Is it normal to be scared of motorcycles?

Everytime I see those in the streets or in the highways they give me the scares, sometimes if I'm in my car I will get jumpscared hearing one behind me. Perhaps I'm being a little irrational about this but I wonder if anyone here feels the same if so to what extent and why?

Is It Normal?

  • I'm not scared of seeing them out and about, but I am scared of riding one, especially out in traffic. You have much less protection on a motorcycle than you do in a car and I don't trust other drivers that much.

  • Those things are death traps. Anything larger than a dog causing you to eat shit over the course of a half mile/decapitating you. I perfer cars with crumple zones.

I only really have to deal with rollovers, that's just a 1/10 chance for death so that's favorable. I dont have airbags in my truck on the assumption that whatever I hit will be shorter than me, crap that the engine block will probably crush my legs.

  • They don't scare me so much as they are entirely too fucking loud.

  • Back when i was growing up before everyone turned into vaginas it was legal in my state to get a motorcycle license at 14. I had myself this nice honda cruiser and id go around town everywhere picking up girls and bussing ppl around. It was actually really cool. I th>nk I was the only one that drove to middleschool.

  • They're loud and that sound can take you by surprise. But just know that it's better if they're loud, because then it makes other drivers aware of their presence, for safety reasons. We're always looking out for other cars, but we're not always remembering to watch out for motorcycles. Think of it that way and maybe that will help you be less scared.
Everytime you hear it just stop and think "There's a motorcycle nearby and I should be cautious of them"

  • Every fear is normal. But fear is just a feeling in your body. What you're really scared of is the feeling in your body that happens when you think about or see motorcycles. If you feel your fear, as carefully as you can, you can learn to see it for what it is ... and with time it will stop bothering you. good luck!
