Is it normal to be good at drawing but have a horrible handwriting?

My drawings are decent, but my handwriting is messy at best, and almost illegible at worst. When you have to write slow so that other people can actually read it, you know its bad.
The ruler definetely helps in drawing.

I could have written this! While it may not be normal, I also have bad handwriting due to writing really fast. Only on drawings do I have patience to make neat lines.

While both have to do with how you control the fine movements of your hand, art and handwriting are not really the same. If they were, people would not have different people doing lettering than pencils or inks in comics. I know plenty of people with lovely handwriting who cannot draw very well, too -- so while the things are related, they are not directly comparable.

I exactly the same.My handwriting looks terrible and sometimes I can't even read what I wrote.!At least my beautiful artwork helps me sleep at night ;D

im good at art but shit handwriting trust me it has nothing to do with each other :P

I love art of all types, but I have awful handwriting. Everyone who has seen it, agrees that my handwriting has gotten worse since 2nd grade. My handwriting's one redeaming quality is that it is legible.

Mine changes all the time. . . if I am in a hurry, it's pretty sloppy. If I focus on making it neat, I can. I would think an artist would have that capability if their strength in art is drafting/realistic type drawing. I think it has to do with the brain/hand/eye coordination that most artists have...

Im this way too. My art teacher told me that when you are drawing that is part of your right brain .art and english being right brain and math and scince being left. (opposite if youre left handed) so when you write, that is your left brain . But since your right brain is dominate your brain is telling you it doesnt matter how neat or if its on the line . Right brain poeple tend to be more ''out of the box'' but left brain poeple have more logic thinking

I can draw pretty good, as well but my handwriting is often terrible, so I guess it's pretty normal.
Maybe it's because you probably put a lot more effort in making a drawing than writing down some words.

i would surtonly hope its normal...im an artist and im always getting crapt off about how my hand writing sucksssss!...but than again...what is normal???makes you wonder dont it???

im an artist but my handwriting is horrible... whenever i need to do handlettering, i print words out and trace them because i can't write them out myself lol funny thing is that my sis is an engineer and her handwriting is very neat....

I noticed alot of people like lawyers, doctors, etc. all have horrible writing but they are quite intelligent.

I don't think that having bad or good handwriting defines whether you're good or bad at drawing. I'm a pretty good drawer myself and I don't have majestic handwriting. You're normal. I think your handwriting is very irrelevant.
