Is it normal to be able to read futhark without ever having to learn it?

I guess, a lot - if not everybody - of you haven't heard of Futhark. I'm really unsure about that, but this is not the point of that question.

There's something I found pretty odd. It is (like the title says) that I can read Futhark without ever having to learn it. It is an old rune alphabet that was used by Germanic tribes around the era of the Vikings and the Roman Empire.

It happens, I guess, but I don't know of many such cases so... would you consider it normal?
