Is it normal that my mom joins me in the dressing room?

My mom ALWAYS has to join me in the dressing room when we shop together. It makes me uncomfortable and insecure, especially since she watches me change and some dressing rooms are tiny. Not to mention I'm 18. I understand she wants to see the clothes she's buying me on me before she buys them, but she can just wait outside the dressing room like everyone else. Am I being unreasonable?

    thats weird, and theres really no excuse for her to be in there since you arent a child and can dress yourself. she can see how it fits and approve outside the stall, watching you dress is plain creepy. id talk to her about it.

    If You are 18 why are you not buying your own clothes ? If you are not working to pay your iwn, even tho you are 18, you live in their house. Does she still cut the crust off your bread too ? Grow a pair and just tell her to wait outside. You don't say if you are m or f. If you f yes kinda creepy, if you are m, REALLY CREEPY.

      I’m F. I have a steady job, and am moving out in >a month for college. Mom pays for clothes because she offers. Even when I pay for my own clothes she still insists on coming in with me.

        If I was your age still,I am male and if my dad wanted to come in the dressing room I would probably get upset and ask him very firmly to wait outside the dressing room. I understand she may want to spend as much time with you before you go off to college. However, there has to be boundries. And the only way I would let your mom in my changing room would be if I was sleeping with her. I don't think that's gonna happen. Just tell your mom, "im 18, there has got to be boundaries" and you deserve some privacy. Are you sure mom is not just checking making sure you are wearing panties and matching bra. If you don't match them I don't blame you, I don't either. But you need to just stand up and say hey mom, no disrespect but this dressing room is about big enough for half of me. Some parents seem to feel their kids can't do it make decisions on their own. So ask her if she feels you are capable to make your own decisions if she says no, then ask her How will you ever get the chance with her shadowing you all the time. Just reassure her that she has done good job instilling values and common sense and the ability to see a bad situation if it comes up. You gonna have to say something or she will probably follow you to college and she will want to pick out your bed sheets and the brand of mini or maxi pads you should use, according to her ideas.     Well the fastest way to get your mom from checking out your clothes when you go shopping is to simply buy your own frigging clothes.

    You are 18 years old for goodness sakes. Get a job and start carrying your own weight. If you intend on sucking off of your parents for so long then STFU and let your mom do her job.

    Even if that means going in the changing room, with you, to see how the clothes fit.

      …I have my own job, and I’m moving out in a month. Don’t assume. She volunteers to buy my clothes, and even if I was buying she would insist on being in the dressing room with me (I’ve tried it before).

    Have you talked to her about staying outside the door?

    Mine always would stay out but every five second ask how it’s going. It got so annoying I mean she’d ask constantly it’s like I hadn’t even put the clothes down yet. Sometimes I’d just have her come in to prevent the “(name) how's it going”. It was always annoying but times have changed I’d always want to shop alone and now that I do I sometimes send her a pic to see her opinion or buy it then later try it on so she sees it on me because she’s always brutally honest. Always nice to have other opinions but if it gets to the point she’s making you uncomfortable and watching you undress it’s a bit far and maybe you should just talk to her about it. I mean it’s not like you can’t see it outside the door just a matter of opening it and showing her. Lil obsessive if she needs to make sure you put it on right and it goes on right when you’re 18.

    she just wants to see if it fits her son, and will probably say "yep that suits you"
    i think its for her needs more than yours like she wants her kid to look presentable and the only way is if he gets first person view at the time of buying compared to buying it and she thinks it looks like shit only to have to return it
