Is it normal that my friend forgets faces a lot?

Apparently my friend forgets his friends' faces and also his own mother's (who he lives with) face. He doesn't seem to be blind or anything, so I'm not sure what condition he may have if he has one. Kinda strange innit? Maybe that's just my opinion though.

As Wryladradofft says, that's a neurological problem called Prosopagnosia, where there's something wrong with the part of the brain that deals with facial recognition. It's been known about for a long time, so it's not like it's some stupid modern thing that's been invented just so people can feel like they're special.

There's no cure, so people with the disability have to figure out strategies to deal with the problem. I believe people with the condition often use other clues like voice, body shape, clothing or gait to recognise people.

It sounds like it would be a real pain in the backside, and it could be dangerous in some circumstances.

Yes sometimes I am forgetful too, I'm more better with voices than with faces.

Sounds like some sort of disorder or memory issue in the brain. He may want to go talk to a doctor about it
