Is it normal that i taste blood when i'm nervous or scared

I've always tasted blood ever since I was little. Is this normal? The taste also sort of reminds me of Christmas tinsel.

Many people mistake metallic taste for blood this could be the case here

  • Its just because it's a reaction for me to stick my thumb in my mouth when I get a paper cut, that's how I know what it tastes like.

Have you never gotten a wound and sucked the blood out?

Human saliva speeds up the healing process. It also actually surprisingly tastes pretty good

Sure, there's this: "Oral mucosa heals faster than skin, suggesting that saliva may have properties that aid wound healing. Saliva contains cell-derived tissue factor, and many compounds that are antibacterial or promote healing. ... Saliva also contains an analgesic, opiorphin."

But there's also this: "Human saliva contains a wide variety of bacteria that are usually harmless in the mouth but can cause significant infection if introduced deep within an open wound. ... The thumb had to be amputated after the wound became infected with flesh-eating bacteria."

There's the problem 'Deep within an open wound'. I'm talking about a paper cut or some other small cut.

That's not the point though. The reason I do it is because it tastes good. The healing benefits are just an added bonus so to speak haha.
