Is it normal that i give my personal possessions names?

I have a habit of giving my personal possessions and household appliances names. My laptop is called Dorita, my microwave oven is called Marcus and my vacuum cleaner is called Lincoln after Abraham Lincoln (although I am not American) for instance. I have been doing this since 1972.

  • I knew a guy who named a volley ball Wilson, even drew a face on it lol

He was kinda crazy, bit of a hermit, but he enjoyed eating crab and even built rafts in his spare time

I name my cars, but I don't give names to household appliances.

It's a little quirky, but I'll buy it. For some reason when I was young I always had friends who wanted to give my car a special name. When I was in high school I just named my Monte Carlo, The Bitch Mobile. I have a Sebring convertible now, but I haven't named it though.

Normal. I have two fox shaped coin banks named Peanut Butter Cup and KitKat, I used to have a blue Nissan Versa named Sonic(the name was meant to be ironic), and an Eevee doll named Brookie. XD

So do you see some household items as being male and some as female?

Yes, JellyBeanBandit, hence the difference in names.

Cool, so is there a reason you'd see some things as being male and some as being female? Like the material or size or colour or anything?

Not particularly but some just seem to give off a vibe of being one gender over another.

I know a few people who do this. It's not weird at all imo

My family and I name our cars!

I also named my little portable cassette player I had as a kid.

My car is named lloyd. A grey Hyundai sante fe never seemed to be a feminine type of a car. So I named it a grey in welsh. Because two Ls and a Y just seemed cool for a name.

Full disclosure I will name my son lloyd too so I'm assuming I'll have a kid after selling my current car.

    I don’t anthropomorphize objects because I’m not 6.

Neither am I but I'm harming nobody in doing it.

Totally normal, I do the same. I named my vacuum Hoover, my car Ford, and my basketball Wilson.

You're the one with the tiny IQ. I have an IQ of 142 and speak 6 languages. I very much doubt that you've mastered your own.

Yes, but made up languages named after the household appliances you chat with don’t really count.

What makes you think I speak made up languages?
