Is it normal that i don't care about my birthday?

I'm a 21 year old boy well soon to be 22 and i don't like celebrating my birthday at all, i don't want people to make a big deal out of it. Many of my friends are very excited about their birthdays and they become sad if nothing special happens that day but i never get it why they want it to be special, i just wanna spend my birthday as a normal day maybe a dinner with a special someone. Am i normal?

Birthday celebrations are actually a phenomenon of recent modern history.

In ancient times, birthdays were not considered to be important, and were often not recorded even for the most influential and elite members of society.

I've had 60 birthdays now, and I can remember disliking them even when I was a teen.

Chalking up another year of life only indicates that I've been fortunate with my health, happened by chance not to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and haven't done something so stupid it killed me.

Same here. And I also don't like birthday songs, it sounds like the saddest song on earth. I just cringe whenever I hear it.

Once you get past 21 everyone I know aren't really fussed about their birthdays except reaching landmark ages. 20, 30, 40 et cetera.

Well everyone here saying that people lose the excitement after 20. Not true. I am 17 and turn 18 next year in February. I haven't been excited about my birthday since I was 15 and just want to spend that day doing things I like instead of people greeting me a lot...

Birthdays were always fun and exciting as a kid. Also, turning 21 was fun for me and my friends, the first age you can legally buy liquor, go to bars, etc., which we did in our early 20s. Birthdays were fun then. But once I got to my late 20s, 30s, and since, I'm in my early 40s now, I agree, birthdays are nothing exciting and no big deal anymore. The landmark ages of turning 30 and 40 were no big deal to me either.

The legal age to buy alcohol here is 18 and I'm still not excited

Completely normal. After you reach adulthood, I think most people aren't nearly as excited as when they were kids for their birthdays.

fuck birthdays , i was born on christmas so my birthday doesn't mean a fucking thing to me. nor does any one else's. i dont remember anyones birthday and it doesn't bother me one bit. i got one brother that calls me to say happy birthday. otherwise id just forget. its more like he is just rubbing it in. i can't go out and eat , every fucking place is closed and to my memory i've never had a blow job on my birthday either. as far as gifts go i just going to get a shity pair of sock or some sweat pants or some other useless shit i could have tossed in the cart myself from wal-mart. its the governments fault anyway. they invented the birth certificate for the soul purpose of getting us to spend money on crap we dont need or want,.
