Is it normal my dishes are changing color?

I have a set of grey plastic plates and cups. I feed kittens outside and I noticed one of the plates I had kept out there turned pink. I figured the sun bleached it and didn't think much of it. Later, however, my boyfriend put out a bowl for them to drink. It hasn't been sitting out there for days like the plate, and it turned blue! It's bizarre to me two dishes from the same set would change different colors.

I'm sure you're right about this being due to the sun bleaching the dishes. I know nothing about the photochemistry of dyes used in plastics, but I do know you can use blends of different watercolour paints to get the same shade of grey. Regardless of the molecular structure that makes the paint a particular colour, you can make the same shade of grey by mixing any shades of the three primary colours in the right proportions.

Just because the dishes all came from the same manufacturer, that does not necessarily mean that an identical mix of dyes was used in the plastic stock pellets that were put into the injection moulding machine's hoppers. For the manufacturers of plastic dishes, the cost of raw materials and the appearance of the new product are all that really matters, and it sounds like the company that made your dishes wasn't concerned at all about the UV stability of the colouring agents used in the plastic.

It sounds to me like the red dye in the plastic used to make the plates was more UV resistant than the other colours, while the blue dye in the plastic used to make the bowls was more stable than the other dyes.

Some dishes are made to change colour depending on their temperature.
