Is it normal i don't have interest in new popular things?

Whenever something new gets popular and everyone is talking about it, I honestly lose all the interest in it and don't even feel like trying that new thing. For example, I see Squid Game everywhere now and that makes me automatically uninterested in it for no specific reason. Does anyone else here experience something like that?

I remember being a kid in the 1970s, and not wanting to see Star Wars for the very same reason!

yes! i have avoided so many shows like game of thrones, twilight, to all the boys, and much more just cause everybody seems to be obsessed with them and i automatically think its overrated.
i figured it was because i didnt want to be a victim of peer pressure, so in this quarantine i tried some other popular things like "dark", money heist, and anime in general. i can understand the hype of these now, and it was worth it to discover these myself.
but really i suggest seeing the trailers and description of these shows first and decide for yourself if you like it or not, chances are these are actually good!( like squid game)

Some of the newer trends sound uninspiring and boring to me. Not sure if it's me or anyone else.

Im like that too. When there's new trends I never jump on them except on maybe cryptos. I keep my eye out on the new ones.

I think trendy things with a huge hype around them tend to get old really fast, which probably contributes to the loss of interest. It is tiring hearing about something constantly for awhile!

I tend to get sick of the same stuff that stays popular for a long time and seems to be EVERYWHERE too (especially more long-lasting trends like music/movies/pop culture, fashion, decor, etc.), and like something a bit different that seems like a breath of fresh air. However, I like what I like, whether it happens to be trendy at the moment or not. But, something that starts out as "meh" and gets overused/overplayed quickly turns into something I'm sick of, and even more so if I don't care for it to begin with.

Not normal imo. I go with whatever I enjoy doesn't matter if it's popular or not. It shouldn't matter how many people watch something, if you enjoy it that's all that matters.

It's not that I do it on purpose to be edgy or something, I just honestly lose all the interest in trying a new thing that all people are hyped about. I might eventually try it out after 2 years if I think it's worth it lol.

No. Not really. I didn't like Game of Thrones but it wasn't because of the hype around it.
