Is it normal i always have in mind someone could be spying on me

when using the computer. Like it could potentially get hacked and someone could spy on me via the web-cam or keep track of what I do on the computer. It probably doesn't happen at least the vast majority of time, but the you never know. I dont think it has a great effect on what I do on the computer, but maybe some. I think it at least has a little effect on what I would do in front of the computer. Is it normal to "keep this in mind"?

When I read the headline I thought it was about paranoia but reading your description it's very real. Hackers are becoming way more sophisticated and malicious what with ransomware and all. It's better to be cautious.

Technology makes a noise that gives me a headache, I don’t know what the signals are doing to me so I usually keep it in a cupboard

Well you are correct that it could happen.

It's less likely if you run a modern anti-virus program and practice good internet and message skills (like not opening attachments from people you are not expecting them from, etc.).

There are other ways. My main computer I work from does not have a camera or a microphone (it's an engineering work station). If I need to make an audio-visual call I have other devices for that.

As such; 95% of the time its impossible for people to spy on me like that (or for me to forget to turn the camera/microphone off from some link).

I laugh at the occasional spam mail that I get that says that they have been visually recording me and the websites I have been visiting at the time and try to blackmail me into not releasing that information to my wife and friends.

I'd love to see the video they have of me using a computer that does not have a camera or microphone.
