Is it normal for a white person to eat non-asian food with chopsticks?

I prefer eating with chopsticks. It requires more precision and concentration which helps me focus and enjoy my food. Plus, eating things with my hands kind of skeeves me out, and chopsticks are a good utensil when a spoon or fork doesn't work (stuff like nuts, seeds, pretzels or whatever.) Problem is, I don't want people to see me eating with chopsticks and think I'm trying to be Asian. IIN?

    Chopsticks are for anyone.

It's all about what utensil is more comfortable for you.

I typically use it when I'm having something Chinese or Japanese.

So cultural appropriation is okay? So YOU like to disrespect other cultures? Disrespecting other cultures isn't funny, nor is it okay. It's disgusting and racist and should give you a reason to not be able to look at yourself. And it IS cultural appropriation. By using chopsticks, you are mocking and disrespecting another culture. Such bullshit. You ought to be disgusted with yourself every time you look in the mirror. Shame on you.

              Go get educated.

Cheetos are great practice to learn how to use chopsticks.

You can only use whatever utensils are appropriate for your skin color.

I'm the same as you; white and I use chopsticks for most of my food. I've done it for years and besides people thinking it's interesting/neat, I've never had anyone make a big deal out of it.

No, it is by definition not normal.

I'm pretty sure if you went to an Asian country and they gave you chopsticks and you asked for a fork they would be way more offended then if you just used chopsticks as that is clearly how they intended the food to be eaten.

If I saw you eating seeds or pretzels with chopsticks, I would think you were weird, yeah, but not because you were white.

Because you're eating pretzels with chopsticks. "Just use your hands" would be my immediate reaction.

        • As I said in the post, I don't like using my hands. I don't want salt on my fingers.

Which foods? Forks, spoons or hands pretty much got every niche.

Chill out. Nobody really cares about someone eating food with chopsticks.

Chop sticks are actually good to know how to use. A lot of food is hard to eat with a fork or a spoon.

Um, no, but it's not really harmful either. It's more quirky than anything.

My grandpa was in the military and I'm going to buy my grandma cooking chopsticks for Christmas because they spent a long time in Japan :)

But is your grandma asian? Because if she isn't, that would be cultural appropriation. Also no if a non-asian person uses chopsticks that would be harmful because it is disrespectful to asian cultures.

        No.

Cultural appropriation is bullshit. People have been sharing their culture with each other for millennia. Otherwise Italians wouldn't eat pasta. At what point did spaghetti become Italian and not Asian? You meet a person, they share their recipes and goods, that's human.

We also eat lumpia a lot during holidays because the same grandma was taught to make it by Filipino neighbors.

No it's not. Eating foods from other cultures is disrespecting and stealing another culture.

What your grandma is going is appropriating another culture.

          Educate yourself.

At what point does a dish become one cultures food instead of another's?

Noodles most likely came from Italy through Arab tradesman from Asia during the middle ages, but Spaghetti is Italian and there are countless noodle dishes around the world.

Every dish you eat likely has roots in someone from another culture sharing their cooking and food.

            I know you're trolling though.

When that food originated from a culture. I just want to let you know that you are a piece of shit for defending such atrocious and offensive behavior. You need to educate yourself.

Also stop with the trolling rumors and spreading lies about me. I am not here to troll. I am here to enlighten and call you out for disgusting offensive behavior. But none of you listen because you don't want to change your mindset. That's what's wrong with the modern world. You need to do some self-reflection.
