Is it important to you that you watch a tv show while it's current?

If you're going to start watching a tv show, is it important to you that you watch it while it's currently airing and while it's popular? Or would you not mind if you waited a few years and watched it after it had completely finished?

I can think of a few reasons why I like to watch a show while it's airing. For example, if the show is so popular that everyone's talking about it, then I'd feel like I'm missing out on that and even worry that it'd seem like I'm not keeping up with the latest trends. Or if people irl aren't talking about it, I may still want to get involved with the fan community online, chatting with other fans online and looking at fan art/fiction and memes, so then it'd be important that I watch the show while it's current so that I won't miss out on all that. Or even if I don't really get involved like this, I do just feel somehow more connected to society and like I'm keeping up with the times if I watch the show now while it's current. Or if only for the reason to avoid any spoilers.

But then on the other hand, a great reason why I like to watch a show after it's completely finished airing is that I don't have to wait up to a year for the next season to be released, which is such a long time that I often completely forget what happened in the last season.

So is it important to you that you watch a show while it's currently airing? If you miss the first one or two seasons, then would you just not bother watching the show at all then? (at least not until it had completely finished airing). Or would you try to catch up to the latest episodes?

Yes, I don't want to watch old shows, they're outdated. I like to watch whatever's new 0

    Do what’s cool, don’t think for yourself. Bonding with other NPCs is the most important thing you can do.

    I love old 📺 sitcoms! A lot of them are really good! Plus,I like the big 80's hair and clothes. And the 1970's styles,too. I also like to try and guess the year a t.v. show came out. It's a little game I like to play.

      I'm the same way, except the only sitcom I'm really into at the moment is The Golden Girls!

    I pretty much only ever watch tv shows or youtube as a way to kill time, or as something fun to do when i'm chilling with my friends. rarely do I ever find a show I feel I have to see for the sake of seeing it.

    Like the hipster-on-the-downlow that I am I always hate any show thats extremely popular and tend to watch it once the hype has died down if ever.

    I'm a 90's kid who watches The twilight zone (original series) reruns to this day.so no, I'm not a trend follower when it comes to TV shows.

    Yes and no, there is value in both binge watching alone and having a week to talk about a show with someone else.

    I typically don't follow many shows, but enjoy The Golden Girls. I think it might've been neat to watch it while it was still on the air (and while all four actresses were still alive), but I still love it just as much now. It's sad to think they're all gone, though.

      Mash is so good. It really stood the test of time. So many old shows don't have the same appeal outside the era it was made, but Mash does.
