I have a friend who is currently in a relationship with a transgender woman I personally have no issues with it but both of them don't see it as being a homosexual relationship. I don't say this out loud but I don't agree with them the woman use to be a man and is genetically a man but identifies as female. I will say that she is passable and you wouldn't really know that she is male unless you asked her. so are they gay and just endenial about it or not and im just being ignorant on the topic?

Did they use to be male and got the surgery or are you saying they had surgery but you are offended because YOU still consider this person a man? Either way why do you care? It's still a biological male but with plastic surgery and pumped full of hormones.
2 biological Males having sex with a penis = gay.
2 biological Male having sex with a chopped off dick = gay.

So it is technically a homosexual relationship, but the relationship could appear to be straight to others who cannot pick up on them being a biological male (transwomen), but the voice and size of the person usually gives it away.

There's no way around it, people who are physically attracted to biological men are at least slightly bi. It's a very straight form of gay, given that they look like and act like women, but it's still gay.

  As I said I am happy for them it's just I don't think they are in a heterosexual relationship both of them are male it's just one happens to identify as a female either way it's still gay.
  
  Also they shouldn't care about what anyone thinks about their relationship and it's not like I'm going to say anything negative to them out loud because it's not my business.

What makes you homosexual isn’t about what gear you have. My female partner and I have sex with toys but we aren’t straight. Many people will agree. So why create a stigma around a male who is with a transgender female? Many many many many straight males have their female partners use toys on them. Does that make them gay? Not one bit.

      Let me ask you this -
      What if your male friend were in a relationship with a female-to-male transgender? Say one that looks like Thomas Beatie or Buck Angel? Would THAT be a straight relationship? Both of those dudes have vaginas but you would never know just seeing then dressed, especially Buck Angel. Would that be gay or straight.
      
      Or put it this way - would you rather date a male to female or a female to male? Say each of them was very convincing in their chosen gender yet still had original parts.
