Is it common for people from the metal community to be mean or sarcastic?

I'm not entirely sure regarding what I asked, since people of any background can be equally mean.

Uhm, actually, the music you are referring to is better described as techno-thanato-pornogrind-fusioncore, and I would go so far as to say that it is *not* trve kvlt metal in the slightest. Go back to jerking it to the newer Cryptopsy albums you deathcore kiddies like so much and leave metal appreciation to the real fans.

I’ve always found metalheads to actually be quite dorky and kind, even punks are usually nice folk as long as you can navigate the rowdiness.
You just have to be careful of the dudes who think they are “Vikings” or whatever. They always end up being very very hateful people.

Those guys are assholes. They're trying to steal the title of Viking in a similar way to how Nazis stole the swastika from Hinduism and perverted it into a symbol of hate

I was talking to a guy recently and I said that a lot of “Norse Pagans these days” seemed “almost neo-Nazi” and full of white supremacist rhetoric, and he told me I was way behind on the times and that this was a pretty commonly held modern observation.

I always assumed pagans to be natural hippie types, I live in an area with some old world ways and culture but mainly Slavic or Asiatic. I didn’t expect trivial societal nonsense from “Norse pagans”, or whatever they claim to be. Really a shame, and as you mentioned, a shitty appropriation of an otherwise super cool culture.

The German nazis were absolutely obsessed with vikings, nothing new really. They thought Christianity ruined Scandinavia. In the occupied Norway and Denmark, they tried to re-introduce paganism into the culture, and suppressed christianity.

From my experience people in the “metal community” are either super laid back or let even the slightest transgression boil their piss. The latter tend to be younger.

The metalheads i've come across have been very nice. Some metalheads are dicks though, music elitists who crap on any genre that isnt metal.

I’ve met all types in the metal scene but I definitely know of whom you speak. I remember one metal head party I went to back in the day and it was full of elitist assholes

Their favorite subgenre of metal might play a factor. I've found friends who are fans of thrash metal and black metal to be super easy to piss off while friends who are fans of lighter metal like hair metal are generally chill
