Is he showing signs of playing

So this boy is my age, my grade, in 2 of my classes and is cute, tall, handsome and bilingual. He is very kind and very smart. But... He has carries like this playboy vibe. He talks with a whole bunch of other girls, and he smiles at hella girls including me and it gets very awkward when he smiles at me... One day we talked and everytime we made eye contact, he'd smile extra hard at me, (but again not just me, other girls too). Then one day I needed help on this one project and he put his arms around me. It was so awkward. Then he started to hold my hands to demonstrate for me on how to position tools for the class were in. Lately he's been choosing to do projects with me and winking at me and honestly... I feel wierd.. I literally block any type of winking or smiling communication he does to me. Like I understand he's maybe being nice but it's not like a friendship thing I'm used to... I also recently got out of a break up last month and I'm not trying to get in to one too... But my friend says he's showing some serious signs and I'm pretty dull, I can't really realize "serious" signs so I dont know if he likes me or not . Please help.
