Is being over prepared for emergency situations rude?

Is it normal to feel irked that someone was more prepared than me, and many others, at a hurricane shelter? During Irma, we all had to head from the coast to either more inland areas or upstate. At the church shelter we took refuge at, a person had pitched one of those privacy bed tents over her cot (with bedding and all) and stored her belongings and provisions in a locking truck which she kept at the foot of it. She had her own stash of food/snacks, books, personal gaming unit, and smartphone with movies. She easily and happily used these items in her little tent hovel and offered none it up to the rest of us. While we didn't expect it, it would have been nice. Not all of us could be so organized and put together as she was. Was the bed tent really necessary? What about locking up all her stuff, as if the rest of us were criminals looking to steal from her? Isn't the Nintendo DS just a bit much when people are charging their phones to call home? And really, I'm sure she had more than enough snacks to last one person. It was only three days, but each day it grew more annoying because she wasn't using the shared space like everyone else, she just kept to herself with her books and games and movies. I was quite astonished that she joined us for hot meals. I brought this all up to the people running the shelter the first night and they said that they were fine with her setup and that she didn't take anymore space than anyone else. Would anyone else have been annoyed at this?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Good for her! Shame on you for being jealous and greedy. Neither you nor anyone else was entitled to any of this woman's stuff. She prepared herself, and you did not, get over it. Honestly I think the privacy tent was a great idea! People have the right to prepare, and make the best out of a bad situation. You have issues with envy and entitlement; it's disgusting! You are the one with bad manners.

No kidding, it's so stupid to envy someone when they're doing something that they earned themselves by being smart and responsible. Why do so many people think they're automatically entitled to someone else's things?

And all this stuff was made in China and probably cost less than $100 at Walmart. I mean really; get a life.

Wow greedy much? Oh my someone thought of something else besides good and medicine. She rationally realized that entertainment security and privacy is important. Cause it is! I would have done the exact same thing and not offered a damn thing. Anyone can prep it's easy you all know what's needed in life and have the options to pack a little extra to make your life better. My setup has that stuff. Everyone I know does not well that I know preps anyways. Stop being such a pathetic little human mate
