Is it normal to worry that i'l only live an average lifespan?

The current average life expectancy for women in the US is 79 years old. That's too short for me. And I have Crohn's which isn't supposed to shorten life expectancy by itself, but it can cause cancer, infections, etc.

That's some odd info... Both my grandmothers are alive and currently pushing 80, and my boyfriend's grandmother is currently 89. Plus, medicine is improving all the time (whether it's revealed to the public or not), so I feel you're worrying too hard over something that may or may not happen.

What you really need to do is stay safe as best you can while living your life to the fullest. Plenty of things can kill you before you can die of old age.

79 years old is not that bad if you think about it. Crohns can be very painful I have heard. But you are right that it does not directly shorten life. You cannot worry about things like this. We all only have today. You or me or anyone on IIN could get in a fatal car accident in an hour from now.
There is no way to know. You will make yourself sick if you worry about death all the time. The only thing to hope for is that we don't die filled with sadness or regrets....or getting murdered by a Richard Gere impersonator...

Remember that average life expectancy is brought down by people who live in poverty (which definitely reduces life expectancy) and people who have very unhealthy lifestyles (heavy alcohol, drug and tobacco abuse). If you have a healthy life and your're not desperately poor, the odds are in your favor.

But, of course, they are just odds. There is no guarantee that you'll live to 79 unless you deliberately mess up your life. Sometimes shit happens.

As Zorak and Tealights have suggested, the most important thing is how you live from hour to hour, day to day, not how many days you cross off on the calendar.

Unfortunately, I am pretty poor. But I've just started my own business working from home (graphic design), so hopefully I will be able to pull myself out of poverty eventually.

I think the shorter lifespan associated with poverty is not so much about being poor per se, but about poor people often living in dangerous neighborhoods, frequently in shitty housing, and generally not being very well-educated, so they don't make good choices about diet and exercise. Lack of access to healthcare is also an issue, particularly in places where that is expensive.

People who have little money can live healthy lives, if they think about their lifestyle choices and take care of themselves.

trust me , you will welcome death at age 79. stop worrying about it. reason =pain chronic unrelenting pain. ever fuck a 79 year old man? no and you won't then either. it will be a miracle if you want sex past 45. it gets worse honey . the government will be expecting you to work untill you are 70 years old. you get to see half your friends from work die off some on the job. only you wont feel that bad for them.

I will never understand why anyone would want to live to be more than 80, 90, 100 etc. If we looked like when we were in our twenties then why not but we all know we don't.
I didn't even mention health problems and decreased eyesight, hearing and what not.

I was pretty much blind and deaf by the time i reached 20. I live with chronic back, arm, hand and knee pain and I haven't had sex in 8 years. I still wanna live and I'm 43.

Wait, holy shit, kill me already.
