Is it normal to work three jobs in college?

I'm a university student, and kind of a workaholic. Back home I raised my brother and sister which was a full-time job on its own. Now that I'm out of the house, I feel so unproductive. Last school year I was in Student Government and gave tours to prospective students. It still didn't feel like enough, and I got a 3.8 despite working two jobs while having 17 credit hours.

Now I'm working as an assistant in the Dean's Office while being a Resident Assistant and I'm thinking about getting a third job? I get depressed when I don't have enough to do. I don't feel useful. It doesn't help that I only have 12 credit hours. Is it normal to want to work this much? Should I just get another job, take another class, or just learn to relax? My therapist says the latter. He told me not to work this summer, and its been such a dark time in my life. I feel like I NEED to work.

Its good that you feel great when working, but you can do important things for yourself when you're not. I hope you listen to your therapist, because you can overwork yourself.

Taking time for yourself through a type of exercise like meditating, or yoga could calm your mind.

Heck, you can even find a job that is relaxing. Not sure if theres one out there though.

If you can keep it up without making yourself insane then, great. But keep your health in mind.

Learn to relax. Ask your therapist about self soothing. Do some research, and put together a self soothing kit.
