Is it normal to think reddit sucks

Half the subs are ran or moderated by biased assholes. Typical of today's world, if you say something they don't agree with your comments are deleted, down voted, or account banned. It's really worse than Twitter was as far as censorship. Then half the subs have no mods listed or way to contact to even question.

Just a bunch of people who agree with each other revolving in their own little world and banning those that disagree.

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Only half the subs?

Agreeing with PurpleHoneycomb, it's only really good for entertainment, and maybe some Looking For Group-type stuff. Anything else, even if it's not political, runs into the "assimilate into the Borg or be deleted" problem. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say the entirety of Reddit is one big circlejerk.

    • I can't say all because I don't go there often enough, but I agree it does seem like half maybe an understatement.

  • Reddit is okay for certain things. Primarily ones that aren't actually about important topics.

I like to use it for gaming subreddits, art subreddits, subreddits dedicated to specific TV shows...Stuff that pertains to my interests. I would never use it for political stuff or advice. My opinions would likely *align* with the people in charge of many subreddits, but I just don't care.

I've used Reddit to hire a handful of artists. It has uses.

    • I don't know. Personally I find gardening/agriculture a lot more important than politics. ;-) One of those is actually relevant in real life. Cause it comes up daily. :-) Guess which.

But yeah I get what you mean lol.

  • If every single person who voluntarily describes themselves as a "redditor" killed themselves tonight, the world would be a much better place in the morning

    • So you want people to DIE?

      • I mean people do die, and an increase on those who are assholes would certainly help societally.

Reddit mods are also proportionately less important to a functional society, so yeah, if they all suddenly dropped dead it would be a net benefit.

I dont think ospry had the intention of being a assassin a killing said reddit mods.

        • Do you know how atrocious that is? To want STRANGERS to die? You're vile. You probably support serial killers. And this ospry guy clearly wants to kill them.

  • I got super banned from it lol

  • Yeah Reddit is crazy. All the mods act like they have the power of god. If you don't form your post titles exactly how their rules say, you're banned. Imo having strict rules for insignificant things is more like a cult than just a discussion website.

  • Reddit is horrible. It seems like people that have the most outlandish views and give the worst advice all come together on there. Anyone that has a different view is considered wrong. My life became so much better when I deleted it and never looked back.

  • That entire app is a shitshow. I'm permanently IP banned over a joke.

  • Here's an idea. Don't use Reddit.

    • I mean I dont have an account, but I do use reddit to at least try and understand the leftist bubble.

    • Not only don't use, but run a campaign against it.

Sites like reddit are destroying our society by censoring view points that they disagree with they create a false world. A world where you think 90% of the world agrees with you and any that disagree are wrong and should be shunned. Creating a bigger division between left and right and killing the open exchange of ideas. It's propaganda, brainwashing, manipulation, and indoctrination. Especially knowing certain age groups don't get their information from other sources.

      • They have the right to run the site they way they want! I wouldn't want someone to tell me how to run my business.

You have the right to not use it. Find a better site if you don't like it.

        • Yeah people act like private companies have some moral duty or someshit. I'm like where are we? And what happened to the free market?

  • Oh that website is awful. Some friends of mine created an alternative to it. But last time I checked, that site was a negativity time-sink as well.

I think it's down to human nature. You start a website for voicing opinions and debate, ...and people start getting emotional and being mean to each other. Rational thought has left the chat.

Reddit is only useful if you need some quick advice for some specific thing related to hobbies gaming fandom or science. Just stay away from all the other subreddits like relationship advice and askmen and so on. Am I the asshole can be a funny subreddit to read through sometimes. I don't recommend engaging in any discussion.

  • I use Reddit to find recommendations and info about things.

    • That's what I thought until I realized just how tilted and censoring it was. You only going to get a one sided view on things.

      • Even on things like 'How do you find item x in RPG y' or 'What's a...'?

Which is about the extent to which I use it.
