Is it normal to reflect behaviors/personalities of others?

Say, if I’m around someone for too long – I become that person, sort of. I think like them, I act like them, my personality is theirs.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a real person or fictional. These people/character can be good or bad.

You’ll probably say or think something like “your reflecting traits you want.”
And I feel like that’s my fault, I can’t understand how to word this better.

Example:

Person J is watching their favorite TV show, Scooby Doo. After a couple (5 or 10) episodes, Person J starts untentionally (as in not intentionally) acts like Shaggy, he eats a lot, he acts scared and he starts talking like him.

Even the inner voice actors of your head is shaggy’s voice.

It’s like that.

Depends how often you do it. If it's with every and any person you meet, that's not normal.

    • I believe I mentioned that I also did this with fictional characters.
It’s like the example up there.

I do this more often with fictional over real people mostly because I tend to stay away from real people.

If it's someone you look up to, I'd say it is normal to try being like them. But if you actually start imitating people you're around? Not normal.

    • It’s definitely not looking up to anyone. It’s different than that.
      Let’s see it’s like this:

Admiring Someone vs what I do

If there’s someone I admire I usually try to act like them, be more open like they are and dress how they do. Usually admiring is associated with good things.

But sometimes I also do this other thing, it doesn’t matter if I like the person or not, but I’ll start to mirror them — I’ll speak similar to them, act like them, say things they say.

For example, I’m not exactly the cussy type and usually often only say minor words in my head, but if I watch someone who says like “f this” “f that” I’ll say it more.

      I hope that makes sense.
