Is it normal to have strange attacks in sleep?

So, I've had these 3 times this year. I split them up into Mental and Physical and I'll describe what happened in the last times I had either. Their completely random by the way. The last mental one I had was actually last night, I was falling asleep when I started dreaming before I fell asleep, I was talking about height with a friend and the place I was in suddenly shifted and I was standing on a high building and it felt like I really was irl. I said 'wow' and it said it then kept repeating it over and over, getting louder and faster each time. At this point I realised what was happening and opened my eyes, awake, but everything was in greyscale, I tried moving but it seemed like I could only move in super slow motion and my senses were going crazy. It felt like seconds but it went on for almost 20 minutes according to my friend who was in a call with me on a 'call sleepover'. The last Physical one I had was a few months ago, it started the same, with the dream, it was someone walking with heels, and it started getting louder and louder and louder to the point it was extremely painful and my neck felt like it was going to explode from the pressure of it. My arms and legs were convulsing and I couldn't move a muscle, not even open my eyes but I had consciousness and was aware of everything around me. It was super super painful but then after a while suddenly stopped and calmed down and I was awake. If I had to describe it think of a control panel with all the things you can do as a person as buttons, imagine them all randomly switching on and off at random, out of wack. Theres other little things that happen during them but I always have consciousness, some things I just cant remember. Is any of this normal?

What do you mean, you started dreaming BEFORE you were asleep? That doesn't make sense.

Yeah. Before reading the other comment, I thought it was sleep paralysis. I've had that once(gg no re).

Basically when you are asleep, your body "turns off" your muscles, so you don't move while you sleep.

Sometimes that thing messes up and you end up being awake and not being able to move at all.

It sounds pretty ok, but it sometimes ( usually ) comes with hallucinations, fear etc etc etc.

Try to think about the times it happened. Did you get enough sleep the day before? Maybe you switched your habits somehow? Maybe you got into an argument?
Also, maybe you was sleeping on your back ? ( instead of your side ).

3 times a year isn't too bad, honestly. I don't think there's much you can do (besides stuff in last paragraph).
You could consult a doctor (whatever medical person) for it if you really want to.

Sounds like maybe it could be sleep paralysis. There are two forms of sleep paralysis: hypnagogic and hypnopompic. Hypnagogic sleep paralysis occurs when you are falling asleep. It happens because usually when you fall asleep you start to lose awareness so most people don't notice the fact that they can't move, if you remain aware during this though you may notice it. Hypnopompic sleep paralysis can happen when you wake up during the REM stage of sleep. It is caused by your body putting you in a natural state of paralysis when you are in the REM stage of sleep, if you gain awareness during this stage while waking up you may not be able to move. Both forms of sleep paralysis have been know to be accompanied by hallucinations.
