Is it normal to have horrible tiresome nightmares because i’ve stopped smoking pot?

I’ve been forced to stop smoking cannabis. I’ve had horribly stressful nightmares since I was a kid, and they usually fall under one or more of the following categories: Wildly vivid, emotionally wrenching, sometimes violent, usually stressful and tiresome. When I smoked pot, these stopped being a problem and now they’re back and i’m Exhausted all the time.

Yehh that used to happen to me too, start dreaming again. They were never as bad as yours though. But usually they stop being so strong and vivid after a while. They get more normal... but it sounds like yours were never really normal, so who knows?
Maybe there's something you can do to address the problem if it's really bad..see some kinda doctor or somthin?

    Start keeping a dream journal.

This is a fun activity for people who have nothing to fill the time in between feeding the cats in the morning and feeding the cats in the evening.

You sure? I recorded my dreams and it's part of the reason I've become good at lucid dreaming. I can turn psychos into bowls of pudding and it's pretty fun.

That's actually an excellent point! I think I can lucid dream sometimes. Sometimes I can make monsters go away.

I guess I think there's an underlying trauma, because it started at such an early age.

Actually, I'm suggesting this activity to OP in hopes that he or she may be able to establish a pattern or theme in these recurring nightmares. I also think that OP ought to obtain some books about dream interpretation.

Since this person has been having these nightmares since early childhood there's a good possibility that the bad dreams are a result of memories of traumatic events that OP had been repressing, because the events are too painful to face. I think OP's subconscious mind is giving him or her a glimpse of this trauma during the dream state.

The marijuana use is a not a cure for the awful nightmares, but just a bandaid. The only way for OP to get out of this is to go through it. I also think OP should be working on these issues with the aid and guidance of a licensed mental health professional.

That was a lot of wasted words.

Well, I'm writing them for OP to see more so than to actually respond to you.
