Is it normal to give a gift to professor?

Hi,
I am new to US culture and I am not sure if its normal to give a gift to my professor.
because Im visiting my country for this summer break, I am thinking to buy a gift for my advisor. I want to give her a gift because she helped me a lot in her office hours for last 2 semesters. But what I am worried about is that.. because I have more classes to take with her in futre semesters, she may think my gift has inappropriate hidden meaning about my grade.
what do you think? will she think I have agenda behind my gift? or will she understand that I am giving her a gift for appreciation about her assist for last year?
So,, Is it normal to give my professor a gift from my country????

Do not say anything without any clue. I dont see any questions appear when I type a sentence from this question on a search bar.

Go ahead and give her a gift she'll love it.
I was in US for my master degree
I gave a sushi chopstic to my teacher and he was so happy for that. American are very easy.

Get her a gift-card to McDonald's. All Americans love McDonald's.

Not I. McDonald's is very very bad for your system. I like McDonald's, but only on super-special occasions.
