I don't smoke, drink, do drugs, basically nothing. It's been two years I tried different activities during this time and I don't like anything, not sure what to do. Feels very booring life now.. Anyone can relate?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Get some disturbing library books out. I recommend Geek Love by Katherine Dunn, don’t be fooled by the cute little title, it will chill your bones, turn your stomach and break your heart.

      DUDE...DUDE

So I just woke up, and I can hardly be fucked to bother commenting on here, but for this I specifically signed on.

I have never spoken to another human who has organically read this novel. I've recommended it to several people, and they all subsequently refused to speak of it ever again, aside from some PTSD-esque mutterings and a different perspective of me as a human being for recommending it.

I randomly fell into it because Karen Russell made a side comment about it inspiring swamplandia & my God...what a fucking great book. I was at wtf level 10/10 at the jar kids/lasagne pan girl, but it just fucking escalated from there. The writing was just beautiful, and the story was beyond fuckery.

You liking this book explains why we are both here, I guess...still can't believed you dropped this. Our homeboy energy has intensified in a way that only people who have experienced the rise and fall of Aurturo can understand. *high flipper!

I never expected to relate to such a strange character in such a bizarre situation but I felt myself emphasising with Oly and her fruitless desire to hold her disastrous family together. And of course I felt like every chapter warped another patch of my brain cells.

I’m not surprised that a user of impeccable taste such as yourself enjoyed this masterpiece *flippers*.

Hahahahahaha. I meant to get back to this because I truly loved this book, but IIN is so meh lately; just random racist shit and tomes that Republicans write about kid dicks cause they're so worried about trans people hacking them off. They're really hyper focused on kid dicks. I usually don't spend all day thinking and typing about kid dicks.

And yes, you can't not love oly. That's the point. The question you answer when you pick up the book is, "do you want to see the freakshow?" You know freakshows are morally wrong, but you're curious, and you know what you're in for as soon as you hit lil's drug experiments and the baby jars, but you can't put it down (because you want to see the mf freakshow), and you're meant to love oly so you get absolutely eviscerated by all of the absurd final conclusions to everyone's compulsory reasons to see the freaks and their motivations. Fetishizing the freaks (the twins end, mary and her strip shows); glorifying and identifying with the freaks (Arturo and his cult); the condescending sympathy and the need to fix them (mary lick). It destroys everyone who sees and everyone who is the show. The only pure observer was miranda. The whole story is meant to punish you as a viewer for buying tickets to the freak show, yet it's so delicious you still come back for more.

          jerry! Jerry!

and we still needed tickets, so we go to iin of course.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I'll check out the book. An open mind seeks to make itself uncomfortable. Multivariate calculus, Chi Square sampling checks, and Bayes Thereom don't do that anymore. And, you know me; Jack does not want to become a dull boy.

We're hardwired to do something for the sake of feeling productive..... that being said, why not do nothing.

Seriously, a guy on YouTube did a video on the topic and it makes a lot of sense. By doing nothing, it'll be therapeutic for your brain and mind. I did nothing once and I entered into a meditation state of consciousness.

  • I dont do any of those things either, that other young people seem to do to entertain themselves and each other.
You just basically have to figure out what you prefer doing and then find likeminded people.

I think the easiest way to get emotional is to watch something scary. Try watching happy tree friends for example. At least I find that show really scary, but fear is personal so maybe you don't. Also you need to vary your activities and content in what you do, vary the type of videos you watch and music you listen to, maybe play some video games and vary what you play too. Or you could simply need complete rest doing nothing for a while (if you feel tired/fatigued), if you're worn out your brain just wont be wired to get excited for that time
