Is it normal to admit you don't know something?

I noticed I'm the only person at work who often admits that I don't know something. Sometimes it's multiple times a day. I feel it's normal to now know things but I'm confused why everyone else acts like they know everything in the universe. Sometimes they even tell me "Well, it's super common to know that" when it's something I've never heard of in my life. It's weird.

Do people just never admit they don't know something? Why? It's only human.

I think it's mostly a pride issue, and also people being afraid to look stupid. I think it's a good thing that you can admit to not knowing everything and aren't ashamed of it, though. I think it shows maturity, and is a breath of fresh air over the know-it-all attitude that's so common!
