We aren't talking about a situation where a person just hates or abuses their spouse and insults them. The wife here is apparently asking OP for his blessing, or she would just go ahead and cheat, and tell him to live with it or piss off. But she wants him in on this and to be okay with it. This is why the insulting and hurtful approach is baffling. Not because being abusive to a spouse is surprising to anybody.
The obvious answer is that she doesn't want another husband at all, at least not at the same time, and she only said these things to hurt him.

I just find it amusing that certain actions are seen as worse depending on the race, age, or sex of the person. I've been judged countless times on my breast, butt, and weight by men who just want a quick fuck, but we girls are use to that. We expect it. We expect men to want more than one woman for various reasons, etc. But people dont expect this dickish behavior from a woman tho, which makes it seem worse, but in reality, this behavior is already common all over the world. Agree with this. It's a terrible thing to say to someone you supposedly love. Certainly people have preferences or misgivings but it is ridiculous to point out someone's flaws and say "I want someone better than you," then expect to stay in the relationship. There are so many better ways to approach this that it sounds like she is trying to wreck OP's ego, or for some reason provoke him to leave her instead of just leaving him. Maybe she is hoping he will say or do something she can use against him in family court.

Iv been in open relationships before. I personally prefer them. I’m not a naturally jealous person. I can get that way of course but that’s why there must be communication. My love for that person was never in question because she wanted something from someone else as well as me. But with how this persons wife is doing it isn’t something I’d put up with. It sounds disrespectful to me.

I had this one friend who said she used to be into polyamory. She asked me the weirdest question, she asked me where people learned to be selfish, and unsharing. I was like, it's not learned, it's innate. Yeah, I might share candy, or pizza, or something, but it's not normal to want to share your most prized posessions like a leather jacket, or a cashmere sweater. I'm not saying that a person is a possession, but I don't think it's normal to want to share a spouse, or partner. If she really needs something more then you may want to think about couples counseling, and if that doesn't work then maybe you'll have to end it.
