Is it normal that racism makes no sense to me?

I just feel that no one has the right to judge, and definitely not to discriminate against, another human being on the basis of the color of their skin. The differences we see between different ethnicities comes down to differences in culture, not due to some biological reasons. As humans we are 99% genetically related to each other regardless of what we look like on the outside. We all come into this world without any way to pick our parents. It's completely ridiculous to create divisions between people based on something they have absolutely no control over. And just because two people are the same color does not mean they will automatically be able to relate to each other, that's equally ridiculous.

  • You'd first have to define "racism," as it's actually an incredibly vague term when you think about it.

I assert that "mild" forms of racism are completely natural and, in fact, not wholly undesirable. Think about this way: a wolf did not choose his species, but most would argue that it's still perfectly reasonable to exercise discriminatory protocols in dealing with him. Now does this mean that you wish to oppress or enslave his kind? Probably not.

And the old line regarding genetic similarity amongst humans means surprisingly little, as a difference of just 1% is SIGNIFICANT. We share an overwhelmingly majority of our DNA with monkeys after all.

It is pretty ridiculous, what is up with all this different race nonsense, there is only the human race.

Unfortunately, many humans are still influenced by the tribe mentality. And some leaders use the "common enemies" and "division" strategies to reinforce cohesiveness, manipulate focus, and increase loyalty, which can fuel racism.

Logically I see no reason to differentiate homo sapiens based on the fact we are all the same species. "Racism" has never made sense to me, either. I suppose it's an attitude you have to be raised with to understand fully.

it's not normal , some are born into it and some are influenced by it but everyone has a choice to separate from it .

I don't think that Jeffery Dhamer "chose" to be a serial killer, but I still hold it against him.

I'm pretty sure it's common sense to draw the line when birth-given factors become harmful...

Race doesn't exactly lead to "the rape, murder and dismemberment of seventeen men and boys" like Jeffrey Dahmer's mental illness did.

      You're comparing apples to oranges.

My point was that OP's blanket statement was somewhat reductionist.

I don't think that he woke up one morning and said, "Boy, I sure hope that I have the urge to murder people, then either eat or do weirdo sex things to the corpses." Clearly the guy was mentally ill in some manner.
