Is it normal that i wouldn't sleep with a girl that means something to me?

I met a girl almost 4 years ago and as time has gone by we've become close friends. When I first met her I would have gladly slept with her but now I've come to a point where I wouldn't sleep with her if threw herself at me. It's not because I'm not intetested or attracted to her because I am very much so. It's that she means so much to me that I wouldn't want to jeopardize what we have, a lasting and meaningful friendship, just for physical gratifacation. However if we were ever to become more than friends I'd become more.....intimate with her. Are these feelings normal?

    You're totally normal...I hate how society has conditioned men to want nothing but meaningless sex with the worst kinds of women. You're just one of the few that survived and is able to want only what is meaningful instead of casual (at least with this particular girl)

    AGHHHH i get this 100% and double AGHHHH i dnt know what adice to give u, except tell her with 100% honesty, how u feel and your fear, cause i wish i did this. then u guys can talk it out. and i dont mean like just agree that it be wierd cause u think it be weird for the other person. really, Really talk it out, u guys might have a great relationship cause u guys are so close.

    i mean how would u feel if some new guy just came around and swooped in and took her? if the answear is jealuos, then fuckin dnt be a pansy and talk it out bro.

    hahaha well look at that, i did have advice, and take it from a guy that already fuck up 2 of these types of relationships. communicating and honesty are the way to go.

          Well I talked everything out with her and got my feelings out in the open which was a huge relief and while she said that we are just frienss and that at this point in time she isn't intereted in dating me i don't mind because now both of us know exactly how the other feels and all these pent up feels I've had for so long that have been causing me so many sleepless nights and hours and worry and bitterness are gone.I guess i really just wanted her to know how much I care for her and the level of respect i have for her.
