Is it normal that i think america should just get-over 9/11?

Yeah it was a horrifying tragedy. But I seriously think society should just get-over this already. Remembering this tragedy will only keep the fear and paranoia alive.

No one will ever get over it and to not talk about it every year is disrespectful to the families and service people who have physical and mental health issues from it

Right on! Your perspective is empathic to the victims and not dependant on international politics and its implications. Agree.

    • We don't really talk about Pearl Harbor anymore, do we?

Yes, but only because most of the people who lived through Pearl Harbor have since died of old age.

We aren't at war with Japan anymore.
Radical Muslims on the other hand still want infidels dead.
And there are lessons on selflessness, sacrifice & heroism that should never be forgotten.

I don't talk about these things very much, but I watch old people talk about the wars they went through online. We're repeating history on a global scale. Both the world wars have nothing on what's coming.
        Prepare for His return.

I sense your angle is one of those "forget about terrorism we need to take more muslim refugees. Yay diversity good!"

I dont think the two cultures are very compatible and I think merging the two will 110% cause needless conflicts here. Whats even the point? Does it really benefit us?

    • No, muslims fucking suck. However, the fact that we responded this way to the attack pretty much means that the islamists won.

They only win if the entire world is Islamic. Which it isnt so they still havent won.

Give the taliban a year. They are on the world stage now, if they fuck it up it's on them.

This is interesting, it seems to me you have a reading bias. They didn't seem anywhere as snowflaky as you interpreted it to be.

"Remembering this tragedy will only keep the fear and paranoia alive."The paranoia word is what shows it. Its implying we should not worry about it anymore. Then that leads into the "ohhh its just ppeeeopleee" I voice chat on discord politics daily I can see them from a mile a way.

They never admit it. They always say "nooo Im not liberal. I dont like biden" then go on to argue every single liberal talking point ever

I agree. The people are dead. There's nothing we can do. We're not going to bring them back to life, and the time for mourning has far since passed.

That's what they want, is to keep fear and paranoia alive. Because people who are afraid are more easily controlled.

    • But 700 000 people died in the Civil war, it's on a whole other level than 9/11, where 3000 people died.

One was a war, where the casualties accepted their potential fate for a cause that they believed in. The other was plain murder. And we still remember Pearl Harbor. That too was a sneaky murder.

Of the 3000 people killed and 6000 people wounded on 9/11 only 55 were military.

It’s far too politicized for my taste. Every right winger I have on my Facebook used it to push their agenda more than doing anything to actual honor the victims, like a post about how “ALL LIVES MATTERED” back then that was widely shared. Or the comments on this very post whining about “snow flake liberals” and people who support refugees.

If you're not going to do anything about it then quit provoking the fear and horribleness of it every year.

It's like a person with an injury that got first aid treatment from the first responders but refuses to go to the doctor even though it still hurts.

Pearl Harbor happened and the USA took action. Yes, a lot of lives were lost but 4 years later there was an end. Not 20 years later calling it quits with no real change. If you decide to fight then you fight until you win or lose. Quiting is the same as a loss, they, (the other side) gets to set the terms.

US has loss the stomach to deal with real war and the terrorist around the world can see that. Enough snow flake liberals, Muslim immigrants, China, Pakistan, iran, and socialist government supporters will eventually bring the war to your house. You won't be able to pack up your bags and toys and go home.

The USA has been seen as a strong force to face because of their will power to face insurmountable odds. From the war with england, war between the states, War of the worlds 1 and 2, add that to their economic power and geographic location they seemed unbeatable. You no longer show that will power, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, all show your not willing to take that atrocious step needed to drive the enemy to the surrender table. Don't get me wrong I understand the impact of using the atomic weapons on Japan made the world as well as most US people especially the politicians and leaders say we never want to go there again. We would rather lose. It will be years after your freedom has been given away before people again will have what it takes to stand up to an organized aggressor that is not afraid to comit hideous crimes.

Add the fact your economic power has been given away. This was proven during the covid situation. When you no longer make what you need and have to count on the enemy to provide the needed supplies. Yes you could retool and start the process, but, no body noticed china was ordering up all the ventilators and had cornered the market on ppe, and medical supplies needed. Are they noticing the chip shortage today?

This rant of mine started about 9 11. I know most of the casualties were in the towers but sometimes the Pentagon and Pennsylvania field seem to just be an after thought. Like, Oh! We have to mention them too.
Personally the Towers were a tragedy, but just like everything that happens in NY its given more attention by the media than it should. Hurricane Sandy example, more recently hurricane Ida. Shooting in NY compared to Chicago, LA, or any small town.
The people on the plane in Pennsylvania are really the first military response and medal of honor winners. They voluntarily decided to fight most others were doing their job or responding to the situation. Not that that wasn't significant. Plus as far as number or casualties you have to add the number of military killed over the last 20 years. Not all or even the majority of those killed were in the towers when you count them all.

  • 1. The number of people who died in 9/11 die just about every day from Covid-related illness.

    2. Way more people died as a result of America's response to 9/11 than actually died in 9/11. They didn't die on American soil, though, and many of them weren't American so nobody cared.

    3. 9/11 was used to justify the erosion of civil rights at home, justified racism and bigotry, and was used to start wars of dubious merit (see #2)

    4. Saudi Arabians from Afghanistan hijack a plane and crash it into New York and everybody's mad at the fucking French because they won't fight a war in Iraq? I still hear these dipshits bring it up.
