Is it normal that i have left sided chest pain daily?

Around the start of the year I started to have chest pains
in the right and left side of my chest. I went to the doctor, and he prescribed antibiotics for it and that cleared up the right side however my left side still hurts every day. The pain differs from a stabbing pain that lasts around five seconds to a minute or a dull pain that lasts about three minutes. After the pain goes away I'm out of breath even though I'm breathing through it. Also I had an x-ray done and it was all clear although that was in the right side of my chest before I took the antibiotics. I wouldn't be asking this here but sometimes it gets bad that I have to stop what I'm doing at the time and take a minute off. Is this normal pain, or could there be a bigger factor involved? If you guys/gals have any ideas of what it could be or any advice could you please list it down below? Thanks.

You should definitely see a doctor. That sort of pain is not normal and is indicative of heart problems.

could be Tuberculosis , ask him for a Tuberculin skin test. then get back to me and i'll tell him what to do next. sometimes TB lesions in the lung improve with normal antibiotic but you are left with TB infection. Could be lung cancer. Could be anything. One thing is for sure , if you dont find the problem , it will kill you. Pain is a reliable indicator of a problem. Id help you for free if i could , i have no medical license.

Just showing the other possible side of your symptom, Acidic pain may time lead to chest pain or GERD attack. Counsel with any medical profession and discuss if you have any acidity or gastrointestinal problems.

Why the hell did your doctor give you antibiotics for chest pain with no known cause???? He must have assumed you had an infection in your lungs or something...

I'm 20 and I'll get chest pains like this, u should check with your doctor but my chest pains were just caused by bacteria infections between my ribs. This is pretty common and if breathing or moving your chest induces the pain it's most likely not a heart problem.

No it's not normal. You never said how old you are or if you're overweight, but when I was a kid my grandmother was in her 50s and she had the beginning of congestive heart failure and angina which is a stabbing chest pain...Google (angina and congestive heart failure) to get more detailed information. She had to take nitro pills under her tongue to get rid of her stabbing pain in her chest. are you on any high blood pressure medication? Or do you have any edema swelling of your legs or ankles? It sounds to me like you might have some minor heart problems and it might be a good idea to go to your doctor and get a EKG of your heart good luck.

PS heres something from the web:

Angina, also known as angina pectoris, is the sensation of chest pain, pressure, or squeezing, often due to not enough blood flow to the heart muscle as a result of obstruction or spasm of the coronary arteries.

    • My apologies, I'm new to this site.

I am 19 years of age and I'm below average for weight also I am not taking any medications/have any swelling.

Thank you for the advice, I'll consider the idea of going to the doctor.

Hey, don't just "consider it" - do it and ASAP. It's not normal to have chest pain for that long and you shouldn't be delaying seeing a doctor.

Hey no apologies necessary I was just wondering what your age is because different age groups are affected by different problems.

Considering that you're only 19 it's still possible that you have angina or heart problems but I would doubt it.

You said that you're below average in weight so this might be an nutritional based problem. Lots of people have different problems because of llack of nutrition.

I used to have problems with getting proper nutrition. The best thing I can tell you to do is eat three square meals a day of natural foods and stay away from junk foods. eat things like potatoes vegetables lean meats fruits, fish. It could be malnutrition or angina, but do go to the doctor and talk to him. You need to be diagnosed as chest pain for months is abnormal
