Is it normal that i get really angry when african people idolise the west

I don't know why, but I get irrationally angry when an African person (living in the african continent) says stuff like "Oh yeah, the west is so much better" or "Oh I really wanna be white"

I also get really angry when a completely black person acts white. I am mixed raced, and already stuck in two worlds. Why would anyone do it willingly?

Am I normal?

  Oop- I didnt think of that when writing. There was recently a post on someone saying "I act whiter than my black friends" or something like that about a black person that quote on quote "acted white"

I think its just because people are different. We like to paint everyone with the same brush and pretend like all blacks act like this and all whites act like this. But individuals act differently

    Also let's not forget that the west is pretty kickass compared to... well africa. Africa is pretty crappy. Been that way for all of history.
    
    Egypt doesnt count. Yes it's apart of africa but it's more related to the middle east region than the african region.

      Well many parts of Africa could currently be said to crappy especially when compared to the west but I doubt it has been like that for all of history been reading history and I think there was a point when it was faring better than Europe etc that was I think in the 14th century a point when Europe was declining due to disease and wars and when Africa was booming I think the major breakthrough for Europe came with major technology advancement right after the dark ages of the 14th century

        Africa was extremely rich in material resources yet zero action was taken to secure said resources. Zimbabwe had diamond deposits found on the surface yet the people had zero idea of the value of the shiny rock.
        The african slave trade was in part due to the african warlords selling their POWs in exchange for manufactured goods. Japan when they first opened to the west IMMEDIATELY took the bought weapons and figured out how to make more. In contrast the african leaders chose just to keep selling people to get the manufactured goods. When the slave trade ended that caused an economic depression because at that point africa didn't have anything to offer to trade, nor having the industrial capacity to make goods. Notice that all the "good" places in africa were built upon investments from foreign businessmen.
        
        Africa fucked itself into a corner. Its shitty but that's what happens when you dont play smart for hundreds of years. I'm not saying the Europeans or americans cant be blamed as well for the slave trade. I'm just saying that if history was to repeat itself africa could have definitely ended up in a better position.

      But black people were some of the pharoes and Egypt, i agree, is a sorta gateway between middle eastern and african.

        I'm not saying that the race is different I'm saying the region has closer ties to the middle east than it does for africa. Geopolitically it's not africa it's the middle east, just so happens to be attached to the african continent

I think people should base their views on actual thinking and a mixture of facts/logic and compassion, case by case. Not whatever "group" they happen to belong to

Also with the horrible living conditions they tend to have there I can totally see why the west is seen as better. At least most people tend to have their basic needs met and more personal freedom and rights. Its far from perfect but I still think its relatively better

I'm a white American, and I've found African Americans to be proud of their blackness and there tends to be a yearning towards their roots. I've only read your original post, and I'm getting the impression you may be from the African continent? That may explain the difference in experience.

You make a good point about mixed race and being stuck between two worlds. Mixed race couples seldom think of the effects on their kids.
It is becoming more common and maybe not so stuck in the middle as time goes by.

    Okay, but there is a HUGE cultural difference between Africans and African-Americans. African-Americans respect infrastructure, they don't rinse sand down sewers clogging them for everybody, or take down street signs for free sheet metal. African-Americans understand that the smartest people can only pull society upward when people at every level try to work smart. African-Americans can also read technical manuals and do eighth grade math.
    
    In Africa, the worst people pull down the entire society.
