Is it normal that i don't want to leave the house

Is it normal that I don't want to leave the house or do anything?

I've always been a night owl, most of my jobs have been night jobs. So I sleep all day, and I'm up literally all night until about 11am. I'm currently not working and ik I need to find a job but I have no motivation. I fill out apps on indeed get an interview, but never go (dumbest shit ever.. I KNOW) Plus my phone is off, and I just recently lost everything in my storage.

I don't wanna go anywhere, I don't even care to hang out with anyone. I even stopped talking to family. I literally just be on my phone the whoooole time I'm awake. I watch youtube, netflix, and play games. I don't even be on social media as much as I use to (instagram was my favorite app scrolling for hoouurrsss, now I only checked it like once every two days 5mins max).I just enjoy being in my room alone in the dark on my phone and I don't know how to get out of this funk. I love the outdoors because its refreshing and I feel free but lately I'd rather stay shut in literally.

I hype myself up at night but when the next day comes I'm usually sleep or if I am up I don't have the same positive energy I did the night before. I'm more confident and motivated at night.... But the world doesn't really function at night.

Can anyone offer advice?

I am the same way. I don't sleep well. I don't leave the house unless I'm working. I feel unproductive and lazy and do nothing about it.

Ive been kinda having the same similar thing recently, u know i used to have a plethora of activities like reading researching and such when i was younger but later on i started losing myself and them activities i loved to do. Nowadays its like i got comfort zoned inside the walls of my flat and just doesnt wanna step out anywhere unless any special manifestation of my dreams is gonna happen or miracle maybe, then bam im all ready to rock the world.
Which i suppose would happen 😪

i think its normal to prefer to be by your own in your bedroom but everyone have to accomplish responsabilities, so, in my opinion, the ideal would be you get a job that you can perform at home, but while thats not possible you should try hard to find a motivation to leave the house and move yourself, be totally idle will bring so much prejudices to you, i recommend therapy in case of this desmotivation block you to do things

You need to force yourself to take a tech break. Try going a day without your phone/computer. Organize your closet instead. So many hours go to browsing our phone..
You really need to socialize with people again. There are bars that regularly meet for board games and groups that do night bike rides, three's gotta be something free like that around you.
If nothing else, get some weights and start doing a workout routine at home, it will get you off your phone for a little bit each day and get you looking hot for a confidence and energy boost.

Sounds like depression honestly. Depression affects your executive function so that even if you love the outdoors, like you said, it can feel like a huge obstacle to get yourself to leave the house and do other basic tasks. Not feeling motivated to do anything but to sit indoors and avoid people is also a bad sign.

I am a night owl too so I get that but when you're prone to get depressed it's best to have set routines, get up in the morning or as early as possible and don't stay up all night. Staying up all night can make depression worse. Sunlight is important for your wellbeing, that's why people tend to get depressed when summer ends and it gets dark most of the day and in those seasons it's even more important to get up early while there's still daylight.

Spend less time online and do meaningful things. Sometimes people feel drained and down because they don't do things that give them positive energy.

    • Thanks for your comment.

Even when I try to make myself go to sleep I can't. I had to wake up one day at 8am I didn't go to sleep until 6am and I was hesitant to even keep trying after 6am because I already have a *horrible* time getting up in the am! So I get the routine thing, but I dunno what to incorporate into that routine...

Might sound like a dumb question, but do meaningful things like what? It would have to be free things considering I'm broke broke, and we all know that hard to come by.

I understand your issue with sleep. I do think it can be fixed though but i'm not exactly sure how. It's possible you sleep poorly.

That's a hard question. Different things are meaningful to different people. Find a hobby that you like or try to motivate yourself to go out more, just take nature walks and discover new surrondings for example. Read, volunteer, do something creative like drawing or writing.
