Is it normal that i can't smoke "properly"?

Okay so I'm a noob at smoking weed, I started a few weeks ago. According to my friends, I don't hit the blunt properly. When they try to demonstrate it for me, it only makes me feel anxious and v embarassed and I didn't want to waste weed. So, I just said fuck it, I'll teach myself. My friend said a way of telling that I wasn't doing it right was the way my throat/underchin area "bloated" as I exhaled. So, after taking their advice and reading some more online, (I'm such a noob ik don't roast me.) I decided to "practice" properly inhaling the smoke using a vape pen, specifically, my Juul. Correct me if I'm wrong, but here's what I tried:
I took a deep breath, I kinda "swallowed", taking in the smoke that I had in my mouth, I held it, (it was uncomfortable) and I exhaled, my throat didn't "bloat", and I felt light headed.
Am I doing this right? I know it's no big deal, It just bothers me and I really want to get it right 😂 thanks

    You don't need to hold the smoke in your mouth first, just imagine sending it straight down through your windpipe into the bottom of your lungs (yes, like you're breathing). Don't try to breathe in too fast, do it slowly and smoothly. Hold it a few seconds and let it go all at once. It is a little uncomfortable and you'll probably cough.

    The temptation for new smokers is to suck. This does not bring it deep into your lungs and won't get you as high. Do you know what technique fills your lungs? Breathing. Breath normally and notice what that is. This is how to smoke properly. Hold the blunt to your lips and take a normal breath. It will feel uncomfortable because you're used to breathing air and not smoke. To take a bigger hit take a deeper breath. But don't do anything different than normal breathing. Also stop fucking putting yourself down
