I broke most of the discs with a sledgehammer because of what happened 2 months ago following his allegations,even going as far as deleting all of his songs on my Spotify playlist. I did because of my hatred towards him. It's honestly hard to actively like someone who's done horrible things.
People are crazy and generally the crazy ones are the most talented. Not that I’m a fan.
I too was a big Marilyn Manson fan, I have some of his CDs, watched every interview he’s ever done and would tell my friends interesting and funny facts about him and his life. I’m still devastated by the allegations to be honest, it’s highly unlikely they’re all fake at this point especially after reading his book and seeing how twisted his mind can get.
I still listen to his songs because I like them for the stories they tell and emotions they express for me, but for some separating art from artist like that isn’t possible. As for the CD smashing we are effectively mourning who we thought he was and in this instance expressing grief through rage is understandable. It’s sickening how someone whose music was an escape for so many abuse victims was likely a vile abuser himself.
I'm sure if you knew the dirty secrets of most musicians you'd have to burn your entire collection. I just enjoy the music and don't give it any thought. A lot of famous people are shitty human beings.
Sometimes profiling works. You could have taken one look at the dude and know he's batshit crazy. If you told me he ate baby fetus I wouldnt doubt it. Just look at the guy.
