Is it normal that customers at work looked me up on facebook when i wore a nametag?

It would happen once a month. It was usually some sort of guy(and on fewer occasions, a woman) who was looking for a date. They seemed convinced that my smiling face was who I actually am. I'm not grossed out, I just find it weird that they went out of their way to look up a stranger. Is it normal? I stopped wearing a tag two years ago and it doesn't happen anymore. I'm glad it doesn't.

I remember when I was 17 I worked at walgreens and the manager pulled me in the office to tell me someone had made a craigslist post that I should see. The post said something like "have yall seen the guy named **** who works at the walgreens. Blah blah hes hot. I wanna do this and that" and it was written by some gay dude. That was creepy. I contacted the email and asked him to take it down.

I’ve never been on Craigslist but it sounds like it consists entirely of broken mouldy sofas and old desperate gay men.

It's sad to think I might have missed a missed connections craigslist post about me. This is why it's such an important thing to check daily

Guys have looked me up many times. On the opposite of your story a guy who works in a store where I live looked me up on all social media somehow once and I had to block him. Not sure why some men thinks it's an okay thing to do, it's really creepy.

I always look customers up. Usually I am researching fraud so it makes sense to review social media.

People can be foolish or even creepy without realising it. Whether that be due to inexperience with expressing interest in another or, simply due to the blindness that comes with infatuation. Ultimately, as long as they respect your boundaries when/if you turn them down then I see nothing wrong

Someone else with my name has a strong social media presence so when people try to look me up it's nothing but his stuff. I will have to thank him one day.

It’s sounds quite threatening/frightening, they shouldn’t be doing that. If it becomes harassment, make sure to tell your manager and make sure they can remove the customer and guarantee that you have a safe working environment. :)

But, okay...is your last name on your name tag? How do dudes find you on Facebook (which is fuckin' creepy, btw) by typing in some common first name?

I've never heard of this happening, but no stranger has any good reason to do so... They are probably a creep
