Is it normal new laptop has half full storage

I bought a laptop its great but it has 56 GB storage and when I just got it the storage was already half full. Now it is completely full and I have not downloaded much. I cant have any photos on it because it takes up too much space. I have gone through installed programmes and it makes no sense because I cant find a single programme that takes up so much space.
I already returned the same laptop once but then bought it back because in general its a great budget laptop. I am poor its not like I can spend more than around 290 dollars on a laptop. I used savings ive put together over several years for this one and I thought 56 GB is quite a lot of storage. I know many games require about that amount but ive never had a gaming laptop so im used to having to find games that require little to run. The few games I have installed take up very little storage, the largest I installed yesterday and it takes up 5GB and I was able to install it after locating and deleting Internet Explorer. Now I have 1GB storage left on my whole laptop even after putting all files on Google drive and deleting from my files and running programmes that clear cache, cookies and other waste... My laptop is a Lenovo Windows 11.

    Just to give you an idea of just how much storage you're working with...my Playstation 4 has 872 GB of storage and I still struggle with storage. Modern games can easily reach 80 GB, and ones from 10 years ago were regularly 30 GB. Unfortunately, that means you might struggle to game with only 56 GB of storage.

    Something that you have downloaded is taking up substantial space. Either that, or you have downloaded lots of smaller things that have clogged up the computer's storage. 5 GB might not seem like much, but five 5 GB files will have eaten up half of what you can handle.

    Dude, 56gb of storage is nothing if you're playing video games. I bought a laptop recently and 500gb was nowhere near enough so I went for a terabyte. I know it's a bit late now, but you probably should have gone for an older/ second hand laptop which has more storage.

      I didnt want a second hand laptop because if it doesnt work well I cant return it. I cant afford to risk that. I rarely play video games but I want to be able to.

        Unless you're playing really old games, or tiny indie games then you aint going to be able to game on it man, not with 56gb. I've downloaded single games larger than that.

    I've heard there are programs you can download that'll list the file/folders on your PC that are taking up the most space. I haven't really looked into though so I can't tell you which ones you could download, you could try looking into it though.

    External hard drives are fairly cheap. You could probably find one with a few hundred gigs for under $100 if that's within your price range
