Is it normal my aunt is obsessed with her dogs?
About a year or so ago my aunt moved into this place with some guy she was dating, they eventually broke up but she still lived at his place. This guy has 2 english staffordshire terrier's, a boy and a girl. My aunt fell in love with the dogs, and has become so obsessed with them now she literally will not go out anywhere. The dogs are extremely badly behaved and aggressive, my aunt does not take them for walks as the boy dog mauled a small dog to death on a walk once so she basically keeps them locked up in the house permanently. She does not want to use a muzzle because she considers it "animal abuse."
She is destroying herself mentally as well as the dogs. She will not get a job or go outside to visit her family members or my mum because the boy dog gets extremely anxious when she leaves, so she refuses to go outside. The only time she really went somewhere last year was a dentists appointment, but because she didn't want to leave the dogs she forced her ex boyfriend and both dogs to sit in the car for 3 hours while she was at the dentist.
The dogs are so badly behaved they even bark when my aunt is talking on the phone to my mum and will not shut up. She treats them as human children. She cooks dinner for them, dresses them up, lets them sleep on her bed, etc. The dogs are basically hers now as her ex boyfriend has given up ownership seeing how obsessed she is over the dogs. The thing is her ex boyfriend has tried multiple times trying to kick her out of the house or even threaten to give the dogs away to someone else because since my aunt doesn't have a job she stays at his house with the dogs 24/7 so her ex is forced to pay for her food, rent, etc. She tries to defend herself saying she stays at home cooking and cleaning, but the thing is her ex boyfriend doesn't want her to cook or clean for him.
He really wants to get rid of the dogs from her but since she is watching over the dogs day and night it's basically impossible for him to somehow sneak the dogs away from her. The dogs are a safety hazard, they can't even have anyone over their house because of how aggressive they are. The dogs even attempted to maul the guys brother who also lives there.
My aunt is mentally ruining herself and fucking up these dogs for life, I really think she needs to be checked out mentally and needs help, and the dogs must be taken away from her because she's putting no discipline or training and because of how many times they've tried to maul both dogs and humans they should be euthanized.
