Is it normal i sometimes like flat, swampy landscape more than mountains

I think it’s because during one of my best periods of my life I lived in an area with such landscape (Toledo/Sandusky Ohio)

I moved from Asheville, NC, to this area and I became obsessed with the landscape: the lack of elevation change, countless small ponds, an abundance of wide, brown rivers, and of course Lake Erie. I love the stench of the region; it smells like a giant algae filled pond.

Summers in the area were the best! There were some nasty storms that blew off the lake. I loved having my windows covered in mayflies.

I’m back in the mountains but it doesn’t feel the same. It’s prettier, true, but that doesn’t excite me.

My whole region is a fucking swamp. And I love it.

    • I guess the part of Ohio I used to live in was a massive ancient swamp about the size of the Everglades. However the vast majority was drained to create farmland.

    • I do like mountains, especially the Appalachians and the Cascades.

I’ve never been a fan of the Rockies as most parts are too arid for my liking.

I hate going through Ashville. As soon as you cross the Tennessee/North Corolina border i40 goes from being really nice and well made to being really twisty and you're forced to go like 20mph on it. They cheaped out on their roads in NC.

Its a beautiful area though. Very dense woods.

I'm in the flat part of the midwest. Mostly flat with a few thick forests here and there. Honestly when I was in japan I loved the mountains more than anything. They were an awesome scene to look at. When the furthest way you can see is either a farm horizon or a tree you really appreciate mountains.

I lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for 15 years, and I think it's safe to say that I prefer swampy Houston, Texas and the marsh that is Delaware to the desert, and all that hot, dry air.
