Is it normal i hate notifications from social media?

I absolutely hate, HATE, getting notifications on my phone, from social media apps or anything else like emails or direct messages on IMing apps, is it normal posts, or wherever.

I just Vant to be left alone.

Same I just prefer to turn off notifications I'm also the same way with Discord pings, I literally hate it when someone pings me out of the blue.

    • I've turned them off for years because it had no professional impact, but now it does! :(

Would it be possible to have a separate phone for work?

Yeah me too. I’ve found it’s really important to allow one hour before bed, without electronics, to wind down.

I feel that way when it comes to spam e-mails, useless repetitive notifications, etc. I actually have most of my notifications turned off because they can be a distraction, and I get tired of the ones I don't care about.

I also can't stand the scam calls I get on a near daily basis. I hate being called while I'm in the middle of something, and it infuriates me when it's one of those idiots. The worst part about it is that I can't even chew them out because A) it always ends up redirecting to a "no longer in service" number, and B) if I answer the call, I get 10x the amount because they put me on a list of callers that pick up and sell it to the other scammers. All I can do is keep blocking numbers, though it's pretty useless since most of the time they just use a new number.

If you don't want notifications, you can always turn them off or disable your social media (even if just temporarily), too.

    • I've had notifications turned off everywhere for nearly 7 years. For everything. But now I've joined a professional group where my full name shows up on their (our) website, along with my picture. I still don't want to get notifications for anyone else's activity on Insta or FB but they keep popping up. I stopped being "tech-savvy" - on purpose because I hate being on display - years ago.

Now I have to deal with it because it's part of the position. Great, but I still get notified of things I do not care for.

      I hate this decade!

I don't have any social media apps, or email on my private or business cell phones.

    It makes things simple.

I do follow several sites on my computer at home. I much prefer a large screen and a real keyboard.

I sort of know what you mean, but also don't. I'm wondering about using social media but not wanting to know about the social side of it. Would it not be better to just use media, rather than social media?

I hate them too cause it's usually something boring that I don't care about

I dont do social media at all anymore. Every now and then my mom who knows everyone in town will text me and tell me a old friend of mine died. I dont keep up with anyone anymore.

They don't bother me, but mine are almost always messages from friends or important information. I very rarely get annoying notifications.

(Discord groups immediately get muted and my Facebook friends list is purposely small.)

It drives me a bit bonkers too. But then I open the app, go to settings, and turn off notifications. I am annoyed with default settings that are set to annoy. But whatcha gonna do?

Me too. I use Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms but have to have my notifs on silent, because when people post on their page, my notifications go wild.
