Is it normal i feel the need to create perfect art?

So I enjoy drawing, writing, singing, and I want to be an author someday. However, as soon as I get criticism (on art specifically) I panic and have to go away for a few minutes to collect myself. Now, I might just be a massive pansy, or it could be the pressure of my sister's unsuccessful life making me feel like I need to be SUPER successful to make my parents proud. I have no idea.
Is it normal for me to feel like I need to create perfect art?

Hey yo, I know which OP this is here, as I have obviously commented on your threads before & as I've said before, I think your ambitions are absolutely amazing. Love reading & art, so what you are trying to do with your life is incredibly admirable & requires a lot of bravery.

Having said that, it's become pretty clear to me- from reading your various threads (immense fear of criticism, phobia of driving, crippling fear of what would happen should you succeed) that you are suffering from a very severe & very crippling anxiety disorder. The amount which you obsess over negative possibilities is not normal, not at all. You even go so far as to hinder your own success by creating narratives in which you being successful damages the world. None of this is healthy or ok. Right now, it is inhibiting you from pursuing something that you are passionate about & you shouldn't be ok with that.

Anxiety like this is a manageable condition & it is something plenty of people suffer from & something that you should see no shame in getting some help for...& I do urge you to seek some help. You don't have to live like this, dude...you don't have to deal with the constant anguish that comes from doubting yourself & creating self-made barriers between you & your dreams. That is not normal, nor is it healthy.

You need to do something about it, so you can become the writer & artist that you want to be. You can do this.

Go by my words "Fuck it" they say its crap well you found it to be enjoyable so statistically someone else has to find it just as enjoyable. It could be the most disturbing lititure or art piece it will always find a market.

When I was in highschool I was discouraged from doing my art forms which were in my insainly libertarian brain outreached itself to all the social groups in school; more specifically the satanist goths. Made quite a pretty penny selling them blood works of goats and other paintings using actual goats blood, colorants and sealants.

Dont let other people decide what is marketable... if it's your publisher find one that suits your needs unless you are desperate then well do as they say.

Jup, perfectionism. Have the same problem. It’s a bit like OCD and the way of dealing with that is not doing what u desire to do.
    Worst feeling like damn

Art is subjective, because as the cliché goes,"beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
