Is it normal i don't buy things i like because i'm scared of being judged for it?

My family is full of judgmental people, especially my sister. Any time I buy something she constantly pesters me about how much it costs and where I got it from and picks it apart.

honestly your family members sound like assholes. you should be able to buy whatever you want without judgement, & your sister should mind her business.

There is your biological family, and then there is your life family of people who are important to your life and your future.

I suggest that you develop a larger life family and spend a lot less time with your biological family.

In a few cases some of your biological family will be part of your life family. My mom was until she died, and one brother is.

I have brothers and sisters that I almost never talk to and have not seen in years (even though they live within a few hours away). They have a negative effect on my life and I see no reason to be involved with them, unless I have to. So I don't, and I'm better off without them.

It is normal to feel that way, but that doesn't mean that you should avoid being yourself just because of what others think or say. It sounds cheesy but believe me, I used to be in a similar situation. Just tell her that her opinion doesn't matter and to just mind her own business. If she continues, bark at her. Seems crazy but it legitimately works.
