Traumatized? No, that's not normal. No one likes the smell but life stinks. She probably looked at you because she was aware how bad it was. She probably felt much better after relieving herself but may also be suffering in silence. Pit yourself in her shoes. Imagine creating that smell and to feel the trauma your guts must be in to create such a smell. And then to have a stranger witness that experience.
