Is it normal for people in their 30s to not know which way left and right is?

I noticed a lot of adults my age have no clue which way is left and which way is right. It annoys the heck out of me when I'm giving people instructions. Is this normal?

I’m always doing the “L” shape with my fingers.

It's called "not knowing your arse from your elbow!"

That syndrome actually has nothing to do with “knowing” or “not knowing” left from right, I’m surprised you didn’t know that.

Somewhat normal as we often forget things.

Yeah, I know loads of people in their 40s and 50s who mix up left and right, especially when there is a time pressure, such as when you are giving them directions and they are driving

  • Like do they needlessly confuse themselves thinking if it's your left or their left? That kind of stuff annoys me, so I do little things to make things less confusing, like "it's to your left" and pointing or looking in the direction of whatever.

It's annoying that I have to calculate all these little things, but the end result is usually better than if I leave people to their own devices
