Is it normal for me to think for men that dating is high risk, low reward

In today's world, I believe that dating has become a high risk, low reward for men in general. What do people think here?

The risk for men: being laughed at, rejected, ghosted, hurt

The risk for women: all of the above and also encountering a misogynist, stalker or murderer

There's less than 1 in 9000 chance that you will be killed by an ex-lover and less than a 1 in 200 chance that if you get murdered it will be by an ex-lover

edit Also don't Act like men can't get physically hurt in a relationship either

According to the NSVRC, 91% of victims of rape and sexual assault are women, and 9% male. And, despite being 49% of the US population, 96% of child molestors are male.

Furthermore a partner (boyfriend/husband) is responsible in almost 40% of homicides involving a female victim, compared with 6% partner responsibility for homicides involving a male victim.(Johnson, Holly; Eriksson, Li; Mazerolle, Paul; Wortley, Richard (2017-04-07). "Intimate Femicide: The Role of Coercive Control") //It's more likely current boyfriends than ex lovers who kill women.

Women experience higher rates of repeated victimisation and are much more likely to be seriously hurt (Walby & Towers, 2017; Walby & Allen, 2004), //in regards to domestic violence

I agree, it's definitely a small chance that you will be killed, especially as a male, but it's ever-present in the female subconscious that the danger could be there. My mom, my sister, me and my auntie have all be stalked, one of us escaped an attempt, it's not as uncommon as it seems unfortunately.

Dating sucks, in terms of spending several months learning the person you've been talking to was a facade. I don't see how it's risky though...

Youre better off just banging your friends.

He's pretty straightforward. I'm certainly not a fan of the MGTOW stuff, but I understand where it comes from, and that the toxicity goes both ways. I'm certainly no fan of the golddiggers, and cheaters that contribute to all the negativity. Third wave Feminism has been a real mess, lots of toxicity there with that stuff.

Actually it depends what the person is looking for, not every one has a high risk, some may pose a medium risk as in those that remain neutral on certain aspects. Not much else to expand on here.

    • Here is why I mention this. Most women over 20 have already had a child and during the dating process anyone they date is treated as a second class citizen.

So just don't date those people.

        • Easier said than done but this area tends to encourage single parenting. Yes it would be nice to find someone who is childless.

I'm 51, and I've perhaps given up on dating, because people my age have a lot of baggage. When I was a young woman in my twenties I pretty much never dated dudes with kids, because... why? Now I'm not interested in dating anyone, because anyone my age probably has kids, most likely adult kids, but kids none the less. Regardless, my cat will always come first. A lot of people get offended, and want to make fun of people who say that their pets come first, but if someone else's kids come first for them then why can't my cat come first for me, or someone else's dog come first for them? I remember when we were in college my sister didn't have to live in the dorms, she got an apartment right off the bat, because she had this big rough collie, and she always said that her dog came first to everyone she met.

... and another thing, I don't much care for compromise, and that's something people have to do when they date, but honestly human companionship isn't that important to me. Besides all my life I've had the curse of being hit on by older guys, which has always disgusted me more than words can express, and now it's just beyond gross. I think it's okay to fly solo, I'm a pilot who can be her own navigator. The last person I dated was my age, handsome, and childless, but he turned out to be batshit crazy, and the one before him was about 8 years younger, but something about him felt kinda shady. It's slim pickings out there, and it only gets worse the older you get. It's like when you get to a clearance sale thirty minutes before the store closes.

            • Well said RoseIsabella. I can see how your point of view with dating is valid yes. Unfortunately compromise and negotiation is a part of most relationships. Even work relationships can be that way. Also I can understand the pet thing to a point but not everyone will think like that.
Most of what is driving the single parwnt stuff is the media as it perpetuate to women "I don't need a man" attitude. Its really disgusting to think somepne wants to raise children by themself. That is diffucult but also using a significant other as an ATM and a sperm donor is selfish in itself. I agree it is better to be happy and single then in a relationship miserable.

It probably depends on who the man is, and what he's looking for as well as whether, or not the women he wants to go out with say yes, or no. I don't think there's one answer for this question, because there are a lot of variables.

I think they're talking about the spike in false rape/abuse accusations over the past 5 or 10 years.

I see. I suppose it's the flip side of women taking the risk of being raped on a date.

I think that all young people should stay indoors and not have physical contact with each other unless it's supervised by an impartial third party.

I've never made false accusations against anyone so I can't relate to that narrative. Although I've heard of women who do that sort of thing, and it's awful, but the worst thing about it as far as I'm concerned it that it makes it more difficult for real victims/survivors of rape, and abuse of all kinds.

I think more high risk not to get urself and sexual partner tested first but then still more risky for bitches because men carry HPV which can give a hoe cancer and kill a bitch but men can't be tested for it so she risking death everytime with no way of knowing if it's ever safe. Guess u risk picking it up and killing ur wife and watching her die if u ever have one and getting aids. But hoe up there right 2 ur at less risk of rape and murder already or being labeled a slut. Don't know what the risk is what U might find someone loyal and get ya dick sucked.

Just avoid crazy feminist types and the risk becomes a lot smaller. It's really not that bad, dude, the ones who are super risky tend to show fairly obvious signs anyway.

Once you got beyond dating people in your own community that you already likely knew a lot about; all dating has become a higher risk with lower returns for both men and woman.

However, it does offer more possibilities than just dating local as was typical before the internet age.

A few sentence profile and a picture from someone you know nothing about tells you virtually nothing about a person and their background, and that is assuming that they aren't outright lying about themselves in their profile.
