Is it normal for a middle-aged man to hide in clothing racks

I was thrown out of Marshalls recently for hiding in the clothes, does anyone else do this or have the desire to do it? I feel like I shouldn't have to restrain myself just because I'm a grown up.

I come from a violent, ghetto area and I'll tell you right now that a grown ass man hiding in a place like that will set off our Fight or Flight response. We dont know what you're up to. Are you going to rob us? Scare us? Grope us? Abduct us? Stopping to hesitate can lead to bad ending for us so we're going to take action. If that action is to knock you out instead of running, you pretty much just brought that on yourself.

I used to do this as a child, I stopped because one time I was hiding in the coats at M&S and an elderly couple started browsing my rack and I thought if they saw me staring at them they might have heart attacks.

It’s weird to hide in racks and watch or jump out at people, which is what most will assume you’re doing. People have a right to shop without being spied on or jump-scared. Kids can be forgiven as they have yet to learn better.

Parents or guardians should keep a better eye on their kids and inform their kids that this behavior is unacceptable. Do it at home all you want. But randomly getting all your mucus and drool and touching all clothes in a store with your clammy hands without even buying those clothes... Is extremely rude to the staff and the other customers. Have some decency. Don't let your kids run wild at clothing stores. That's what kiddie daycare is for. Shop assistants don't get paid to clean up after your filthy brats.

I was about 7-10 in my coat hiding days so at least I didn’t use them as chew toys.

I hope they beat you violently about the head, and neck for good measure! If you cannot control yourself in public, then maybe you ought to be kept under lock, and key in an asylum?

Oh come one it is not normal or healthy for anyone, regardless of their age, to hide in clothing racks or any other place as a way to avoid social interactions or responsibilities. Hiding in this way can be a sign of a more serious issue, such as social anxiety or a tendency towards avoidance behaviors.

I agree, anything that a child can do, an adult should also be able to do.

Imagine you shop there. You purchase clothes. Then there's someone's drool all over your new clothes. All because some dirty weirdo like you was 'having fun' touching all those clothes in the store...

I would make you pay for it. Buy all the clothes you touched. Or pay to have them dry cleaned. You wouldn't get away with this crap in my store. Now get the fuck out. of the store.

And to the people saying they pulled this crap when they were kids:

Where the fuck were your parents or guardians? Who just let you go crazy in a store? Your mom is probably a big Karen customer who ruins the lives of people who work in retail. Now do me a big favor and don't have kids.

When I was young enough to do this my mother also had my younger twin sisters to watch, they were very loud and poorly behaved so it was easy for me to slip away unnoticed for short periods. When I worked in retail a few years ago I just laughed at stupid kids, I wasn’t paid enough to care.

I don’t want any SkullsNJuniors so at least the world won’t have to suffer that.
