Is it normal extremely painful mouth sores?

I got mouth sores( canker sores) for the first time this year. Last time on my inner lip, this time is probably the worst pain ive ever felt. Its near my throat and i dont want to eat and im living on Orajel. I feel unwell and no energy.
Seriously if i could go into a coma till its gone id say YES PLEASE.
Are mouth sores this bad for you guys?
