If you set up your email to auto respond, what would it say?

I sometimes take a long time to respond to an email because it involves a task, or finding information in order to respond. Sometimes it takes me a long time to write an email (like 3 hours for a few lines). I'm not a good writer.

I want to ease people's potential anxiety of not getting a response by:

A) immediately assuring them I have received their email
B) I will respond as soon as I can, but it might take a while

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

"Thank you for your e-mail. I most likely won't respond."

i worked with a guy who would copy me on each and every fuckin inconsequential fuckin bullshit email he got or sent

    it was 95% garbage

it got on my nerves and he laughed when i told him to stop so i set up a rule in outlook so whenever i got an email from him itd send a 'received thanks & regards from donteatstuffoffthesidewalk'

his spam load doubled and i laughed when he told me to stop

    • Ha, that reminds me of the time I worked at a place with like 10x of the guy you're describing, usually "All Staff" emails... I set up rules for their emails to go directly to the trash with no auto response.

How about something like, “Thank you for your email, due to the high volume of emails I receive please allow [time period] - [longer time period] for my response. I thank you for your patience.” ?
