I worry about teachers

Thinking about putting my kids in private school. I have come across some teachers that have me wondering how the hell they are even allowed to teach children. In my opinion as soon as a teacher teaches children something like activism, politics, race theory they should be banned from teaching. Some of the things I have seen on facebook and on discord from teachers is very worrisome. I worry my children will be indoctrinated by these teachers and taught to believe capitalism is a complete failure and they are bigots if they do not subscribe to that whole ideology of race theory and anti capitalists retoric.

If you think critical race theory is being a decent human being then you are wildly mislead.

Mind you, I did not voice an opinion on CRT, and it's beside the point.

A teacher should be able to facilitate students' independent thinking, whatever the topic is. No teacher is the holder of any knowledge to be INSTILLED in students. The combo teaching/learning is a process where THINKING and QUESTIONING are at its core.

"as soon as a teacher teaches children something like activism, politics, race theory they should be banned from teaching". Op is talking about things like this, dude. I agree with you that thinking and questioning are vital to be taught, but what op outlined in their point are things teachers shouldn't be able to impose on their students.

Also, how is a History teacher supposed to explain political systems and how policies are made and have been throughout History, social classes, etc. without talking politics? Should the topic be banned then?
What he's actually saying is DON'T LET THESE DAMN LIBTARD TEACHERS TURN MY KIDS INTO GAY-LOVING COMMUNIST SJW SNOWFLAKES!

            • When the parents of the kids you teach have similar concerns as mine do you also translate their words to fit your world view of them being bumbling fools? This is a great example of the type of teachers I worry my kids being taught by. You should try to use the critical thinking you teach and get off your high horse and try to understand the other perspectives before you mock them.

But they are certainly allowed to impose the OP's own beliefs, right? Double standards I'm sure.

            • I dont want the schools to impose any belief system on my kids, to me this is no different than teaching kids religion in school. I saw above you had mentioned "you want to teach kids to be critical thinkers" if thats the case, assuming you dont subscribe to critical race theory, then you are probably a good teacher.

          • Its a safe assumption that she doesn't "voice her opinion" on critical race theory because she is a teacher that supports it.

Homeschool or do a web search for Republican leaning schools.

You mean the kind of schools that won't allow any teaching of scientific consensus? lol

Since when is critical race theory the consensus?

Is this to imply there are no biases among right wingers? In my country they are kicking sick and disabled people off welfare and sinking our healthcare system.

  • Fun fact: in the state of California, it's actually illegal to be a communist and be a school teacher.

Down here in the south, though, even the teaching of evolution or the big bang theory are considered suspect; I recall once, in a history class, one of my classmates said something about why he thought the big bang was a better explanation for the origins on the universe than gods/goddesses, and the teacher whipped out a bible and begin shouting at him. "Indoctrination" goes both ways.

I know enough American public school teachers that constantly throw beer bottles at the neighbors. I also know some amazing people that are teachers at the same school. You're not wrong though in that there is a political agenda with a lot of the younger teachers.

One of the new teachers told our 6 year old she had to aknowledege her white privilage to a peer of color. We aren't rich by any means. The girl of color my child is supposed to aknowlege her privilage to has parents that are both attorneys and are definitely richer.

I understand historical racism, but I don't want someone fresh out of college, a teacher telling our child and another child they are superior/inferior because of their skin color.

We are seriously thinking about private school ourselves.

  • They gotta translate your words to fit their narrative. Its the go to for many of them.
