Problem is the law can't stop gullible people from being gullible: look at all those people who drank the kool aid for Jim Jones

Well, some were forced at gun point.

True, but only some and who had a gun at the heads of the people shooting their "brothers & sisters & children"?

If people are stupid enough to be misled by asshats with talking anuses then let them suffer.

The CIA targets those imams that preach hate. It would be just as noble to schedule televangelists to mysteriously disappear.

They prey on people who are generally vulnerable and looking for something in their lives. Most but not all are professional con men. I firmly believe they will get their comeuppance however.

At least one of them already has gotten his comeuppance-- Jim Bakker from back in the mid-late 80s. Unfortunately he's out of the clink and selling buckets of pig slop as survival food for the coming "end times".

Excellent business model, since those goldurn pesky End Times just keep on running away, don't they?

In my youth, my family was involved with the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Seventh Day Adventists. Both were created in the 19th Century in response to End Times anxieties, and both still attract pathetic people with that mindset. The Witnesses have predicted the End of Days several times, while the SDAs at least had the sense to realize that such predictions left them looking pretty stupid after a couple of failures.

  • There’s some TV show called Rev’s Renovations or some crap. It’s about a preacher rehabbing his entire McMansion. I don’t know how he hasn’t been investigated (or beaten by his flock of donators).

    I agree, bunch of pricks.

  • My pastor calls them "prosperity pimps", selling the promise of miraculous prosperity in return for a "love offering"!

I agree, you can't charge them with fraud.
    But, they should be taxed.
The ' religions ' should be treated equally.
Those rich preachers that make their living off old lonely folks.
My mom suffered this, sent money to Jim baker, oral roberts, the 700 club etc.
While she was eating poorly, and the roof on her house slowly colapsed.
But, it was her choice right.
That's fine, but tax these assholes.
At least we can do that.
Treat them equally, as in don't push the Christian thing in public.
    The Jewish thing in hollywood.
But ban pork in some places because it offends a muslim.
Hard to follow, lots to think about.

Once you buy your second jet you're not using the money to serve God. Unless they think they are God.

No way! Joel Osteen's Rolls Royces and locked down churches during cat 5 hurricanes are a true asset to humanity. Pretty much modern Jesus.

how do you prove they are frauds, they swear to god and a whole damn stack of bibles in court. the government gives the tax free status if they promise not to be a republican. and if they start fucking your wife thats legal too. so just what can you hang on one that will stick?

If they're committing fraud, then yeah. Problem is, most of it is 'legit'.

I like how you put 'legit' in quotes.

    Theres nothing wrong with Christianity.

If you hate on Christianity, then your just hating. And your the problem. Not it.

Let people practice their religion if they so want to.

I don't hate Christianity. What I hate is a small group of people who tell the desperate and hopeless that they should donate all their money to some jerk so he can live in a mansion or buy another plane. And in return they will get a "miracle", but only if their faith is strong enough.

It would be one thing if they used the money to help the needy or pay for research to cure diseases. They don't. They send it on themselves.

I also stand against Scientologists who do the same thing. I actually dislike Scientologists even more that mainstream con men.

You are just sticking your head in the sand. Televangelists hurt people. They take money from people who are poor in spirit, fill them with false hope, and then laugh about it while they fly their private jets, and drive their expensive cars.
